As an IT professional for decades with a patent in streaming video, I feel like I have been sent back in time. This is what setting up WiFi cameras was like over >10 years ago. I’ve used many systems through the years and this is terrible.
I realize that I am in an apartment with provided internet. They provision a subnet for each tenant and likely block most ports for security. I have not control over the router but I did purchase a WiFi extender which allows me to get them to work for a few minutes and then they only send alerts and will not stream through the app.
my suspicion is that Roku switched ports and the protocol in which they stream on. Most likely they rolled it out after testing on typical hardware but not on secured or restricted networks that block certain ports.
Same problem, I tried the solutions including going back to initial setup. My cameras were installed in January and now 10 months later, they don't connect to the same network. I have learned that Roku cameras are not reliable.
No, something that works for 10 months and then stops working is a Roku update that screwed us all.
Same for me.
That sounds like a reasonable reason for the error. What can a person do to solve it? I have the router under my control but I don't know what Roku did, what they are now using after 10 months of using a working port.
OK, maybe you can help so many of us.
Mac address : 7C67AB5A6956 ADDED 1/28/2024
MODEL: INDOOR CAMERA SE
ERROR CODE -45
FIRMWARE VERSION: I DON'T KNOW, OBVIOUSLY ROKU'S MOST RECENT CHANGE IN NOV 2024
STEPS TAKEN: ALL THE SUGGESTIONS OF DISCONNECTING, RECONNECTING, THEN RETURN TO INITIAL SETUP. IT WON'T CONNECT TO THE NETWORK THAT WAS WORKING FINE AND CONTINUES TO WORK FINE FOR OTHER DEVICES
LOG ID: FOR THIS SITE? TomRussotto, not sure what screenshot applies
Why did Roku do this? It has totally turned me off to their products. Now, they're another Microsoft.
Thanks,
Tom
Hi, I got the update and was able to update one of my two cameras successfully. The second one lights Red when I first plug it in, stays Red for 10 seconds or so, then goes out. Pressing Setup does nothing. It never "speaks." It seems dead now, even though it was working fine before the -45 update issue. I purchased the camera on January 26 of this year and it hasn't had a tough life. It seems to be a small brick now. Is there a way to wake it up or troubleshoot in any way? Thanks for any suggestions.
I am in Virginia and the 2 cameras are in Michigan with code 45 my third camera is in Norfolk Virginia and it works great. So how do I remotely fix code 45?
