There's nothing delightful about this experience, ESPECIALLY the noise of it. Now I need to mute my Roku TV before pressing HOME? Just for a little peace and quiet in my own home?

Agreed. I have been a Roku promoter for years, but no longer. The platform is too infused with ads. It’s time to look for alternatives. Sad.

Just to repeat.  This is a temporary fix that changes back.  We should NOT have to select this at all.

If you have a Roku TV and start experiencing this consider that if you switch to ANY other option like Chromecast or whatever all you need to do is disconnect the WiFi or Ethernet cable depending on how you are connected from your TV and only let the unmolested Streaming device have access to the internet. No internet, no ads on the main TV menu.

Don't let them make you think you HAVE to keep your TV connected to the internet.

Just ordered an Apple TV 4K. My three Roku's are going in the garbage (actually electronics recycling). This "test" is the last straw. I've used Roku since 2011 and have recommended it to numerous people including my kids and sisters who all use Roku. The simplicity and the fact that they were service agnostic was a big selling point. It's pretty obvious that the leadership at Roku has decided to completely en**bleep**tify their product. I'm done.

Time to name and shame the advertisers that want to be associated with this horrible intrusive user experience. I've seen the noisy obnoxious "Moana" ad multiple times on my two Roku devices.

If Disney Animation Studios is making ad buys for this bulls*hit, perhaps it's time for us to stop spending money on Disney's intellectual properties. Maybe Disney has enough clout to pressure the smooth-brained corporate flunkies at Roku to lay off the ensh*tification already. Why would Disney want their IP associated with making people furious?

Or maybe this is the proverbial last straw for many of us regarding Roku. Apple TV? Nvidia Shield? A Raspberry Pi running Kodi?

Roku, you ain't the only option. Stop alienating your userbase. The automatically-applied ad wallpapers were horrible. This "can't press the home button without seeing an ad" is next level stoopid.

After over a decade using the latest and greatest Roku, and 6 devices right now in my home. I got fed up with all the bugs and slowness and jumped ship to Apple TV 4K and let me tell you, the experience cannot be any better. Every single app I need is there, and it is superfast, with the greatest image and sound fidelity I have ever experienced from any streamer so far.

I will continue to my migration and replace the 5 remaining Rokus in my house with 4K Apple TVs boxes.

I will be moving to Apple TV if this continues. Ads are unacceptable and not necessary. I use Roku for the UX and the apps and ease of use. This is disappointing and will not be tolerated. I have Roku Ultra devices all over my home along with Roku TVs and I will move to Apple TV instead to get rid of ads and a better experience should this continue.
