I’ve always been able to control my Roku TV with my echo Dot. The last few weeks it hasn’t been working. Running through the troubleshooting steps, one was to disable the Roku skill and reenable it in Alexa. I disabled it, but when I tried to enable it, it told me that the skill no longer exists. Please tell me there is another way to control my TV with my echo. Dot, or that there is a new Ruko skill coming?
I solved my issue.
When I go on my Alexa app and go to the skills area and search for a Roku skill, it tells me there isn’t any. Actually, that it doesn’t exist anymore is what it told me because I had already had it enabled, disabled it to try to get it to work again, as it had stopped working.
Out of desperation, I decided to ask Alexa to enable the Roku skill. She told me I had disabled it and asked me if I would like to enable it, I said yes. She then told me to go to my Alexa app. At the top of my Alexa app there was a line at the top talking about the Roku skill. I touched the link, and it led me through a sequence of things that ended up with my Roku skill enabled and me able to control my TV again.
I hope this information is helpful to anybody else who disabled the Roku skill and then is told it doesn’t exist anymore on the Alexa app or it just trying to find it for the first time and can’t find the Roku skill at all in the list on the Alexa app.
Hey, @VBrown.
Thanks for sharing here!
Have you tried performing a software update and see if you're on the latest version now? You can check that by going to Settings > System > Software update > Check now.
Let us know what you find out!
