Not sure what category this goes in but anyways, I just got a Roku Express 4K+ to take a break from satellite tv. If I hear the BK commercial one more time, I'm gonna lose my s*#t.
First, I cannot disable the remote from controlling my tv power and volume. I tried every suggestion in this community and nothing works. From what I understand, you can't turn the thing off without pulling the power cord. FYI when you do that, the remote still controls the tv.
Second issue, and perhaps the worst, is that I can no longer watch my usual satellite dish shows when I switch inputs. So the Roku is on one HDMI and the dish on another. When I switch to the dish, I cannot click on the shows displayed in the guide. This issue began right after I set up the Roku. Coincidence? My gut tells me no. Is it possible to dissociate Roku from my dish?
As with every other device on this planet, I tried unplugging the Roku and I still can't watch from my dish. A factory reset does not work either.
@No_Username1 To disable the remote from controlling your TV on the Roku go to settings, Go to remotes and click until you get to setup remote for TV control. When it asks if the music is playing, lie to the device.
For example if the music is playing say no. If the music is not playing say that it is playing. Then click home to return to the home screen. Your remote will no longer control the TV. As far as the second part I see no way that the Roku is causing the problem with the Dish remote.
Yep. I didn’t like the TV controls and I “disabled” mine in the same way.
I have Roku, satellite, Blu-Ray etc. and none of them are in any way “associated” with any other. They’re just independent devices hooked to one display. I hope this isn’t insulting, but when you switch to the satellite dish, you do have to pick up the satellite dish remote, and if it’s one of those remotes that can control multiple devices, then you have to make sure it’s set to control the satellite. Oh, and you can’t set the Roku (or any other object) directly in front of the satellite receiver’s IR sensor! Just trying to cover everything I can think of! 😀

Yes, I did use the satellite remote to access the satellite menu. It's a universal remote that also controls the tv.
Very interesting about not pointing the Roku remote to the tv or satellite IR's.
I went into the dish settings and everything is offline. I suspect Roku has jammed my signal somehow. I tried the secret connection screen and there's nothing about interference there. The thing is, I can't call my satellite provider because we're sharing it with the people who actually pay the bill. So that's not an option.
Is throwing it into the fire sounding like a viable solution right now?
@Strega2 Yeah I did that several times and it doesn't work. It doesn't matter how I lie, it does nothing. It just reverts back to the Sony settings anyways.
The dish remote is not the problem, it's the dish content. I can still do everythin I used to with the remote. It's the content that no longer works. For example, from the guide, I see all my old channels but the shows are in light gray and when I select them, it says I need a subscription. This has never happened before the day I set up that Roku.
@No_Username1 I suspect that Roku has absolutely nothing to do with your "problem". You do need a subscription. If I had known you were not legally getting satelite I would not have helped you. Many providers are now cracking down on password sharing. It helps keep the cost down for those of us that are paying for a subscription.
Agreed – I thought this was a normal AV hookup confusion question. In any case, the OP wanted a “break from satellite” and got one. I don't know how to “share” a satellite anyway so I have no idea on that.
@HDMIGuy It's not illegal to own more than one receiver and have them in different locations where the owner spends half their time between two households. That's about all the justification I want to give.

@No_Username1 You don't need to give any justification to me. You need to justify your unique situation with Dish Network. You stated "I can't call my satellite provider because we're sharing it with the people who actually pay the bill.".
If your situation is what I hope it iswith the two receivers you just need to call your satellite provider and have them help with the problem you are experiencing.
Yep, if your subscription at Dish is fouled up, then contact them. I have Dish, Roku and multiple other AV gadgets both new and old and they all work fine and aren’t aware of each other’s existence.
