Roku stick slow with HDMI extender
My old Roku stick has been working fine with no issues until I started getting the overheating messages recently. So I went to the Roku website and got their free HDMI extender, as I saw that was the solution to this common issue. But now that I plug the stick into the extender, everything about the Roku has slowed down significantly, or straight up does not work. Netflix and DirecTV don't load past the basic start screen, and I've had to restart the entire system several times just get it to load once.
i previously had the stick powered from the built-in USB port on the TV, and have tried switching that to a dedicated USB brick in case it just wasn't getting enough juice, but that isn't helping. The only thing that seems to work is to remove the extender...which means the stick is back to overheating.
Has anyone else had this issue with the HDMI extender?

Re: Roku stick slow with HDMI extender
I’m guessing that when you added the extender, it shifted the stick and its Wi-Fi receiver (the external dongle) to an area with worse reception. ie: too shielded or too close to something emitting a bunch of RFI. At Wi-Fi frequencies, even a couple of centimeters can make a big difference.
