Re: Roku add an Internet web browser
SIMPLE!! ROKU is a TV platform. It allows using APPS from TV providers (including paid subscriptions on many) to stream TV. Allowing us to have and use a WEB browser would allow all kinds of PIRATE TV streams to be watched on the TV?? THAT totally goes agains the partnership (both benefit financially) between the 2 industries. So using that common sense, it will never happen...... If I ever have something I want to more properly watch on my TV (instead of my laptop) from the internet, I just plug in my HDMI cable (better resolution than casting) and it solves the problem

Re: Roku add a freaking Internet web browser
@NOPE8142 Sorry, not understanding the problem. You can't "add" an Internet connection to a Roku, other than a couple of models that will accept a mini-USB Ethernet adapter. What model Roku do you have? If it's not a Roku TV that is connected to an antenna, then there's no such thing as "live TV" available. I don't know what you mean by "useless channels".
You mention JVC. Is this a JVC manufactured Roku TV? Does it have an Ethernet connector? If so, what did you add, and what is happening?

Re: Roku add a freaking Internet web browser
It is in the television JVC ROKU TV - I was trying to mirror my live TV computer - it pushed me to download FAST INternet - instead of google both of which you need subsciption - i added the app paid $3.99 then it did not work - now it wont leave for a month as i have cancelled supscription.....i thought my earlier was straight forward you can add an app INSIDE the TV but They dont work ! as you areall saying I am just repeating it...

Re: Roku add a freaking Internet web browser
I appreciate the explanation, but I still don't completely understand. What "pushed" you to download something? Where is that something installed? You can't install anything on a Roku device that doesn't comes from the Roku channel store. Was this something you installed on your live TV computer? That sounds highly suspicious to me.

Re: Roku add an Internet web browser
I agree. I have to unplug my Roku to change to a different HD PLUG IN.
My Granddaughter competition dances and they live stream, I have to use my laptop. Would be great to just go to their streaming service

Re: Roku add a freaking Internet web browser
I don't think the Roku device pushed this 'fast Internet' app, maybe something you were watching on the Roku TV showed you an add for it. In any case, you cannot get fast Internet via an app - the speed is in the hardware and the network. An app _might_ look for networking tweaks, but that would not be a Roku app. As far as I know the Roku scripting language won't let you mess with your network equipment. What is the name of this 'fast Internet' app? I know if you cancel it, you might still technically have it until the subscription period ends - but you can still delete it from your menu
