Roku Ultra 2024 Notifications

On those that have the Roku Ultra 2024, do you get a notification in the upper right hand corner of TV when when viewing HDR or Dolby Vision content? Do you also see Dolby Atmos logo in same area? I have a LG C3 TV.

I have been streaming content with just that and I don't see these notifications as I did on an older Roku Ultra. Picture looks good though.

Also, it's touted as supporting WiFi 6 but mine won't connect at that band. Only connects WiFi 5gHZ and I have a mesh router that supports up to WiFi 7.

Wi-Fi 6 is not a band.  Wi-Fi 6E includes the 6GHz band, but Wi-Fi 6 does not.

Re: Roku Ultra 2024 Notifications

If you want your Roku Ultra 4850 to use wifi 6, you can try configuring your 5ghz band to use "AX" protocol under the Wireless Mode settings in your router.

For testing purposes, you can try creating a new SSID (if you have a triband router) and limit it to AX-only devices on the 5ghz. (this should help confirm the Roku device can successfully connect and use wifi 6 speeds).

Just an FYI, wifi6=AX protocol.

I think the implementation of the 6ghz band capability (wifi6e/AX with 6ghz band and wifi7/be) is probably a ways off for Roku devices.  With the 6ghz band, the client devices generally have to be much closer to the router (or additional AP/access points used) for a reliable connection.

With the mesh router system, you will likely notice that many 6ghz devices will routinely swap between the available bands (and generally settle on the 5ghz band for longer periods of time) as the signal decreases in an effort to remain connected to the network.

Re: Roku Ultra 2024 Notifications

Thanks. I have Deco BE63 mesh router with a satellite. The Deco app doesn't have such a setting.

I have about 49 devices connected and running smoothly. An iPad Pro, my Dell XPS 13 laptop and Android phone connect to the 6Ghz band without issue.

I have MLO Network turned on and to work with the 5GHz and 6Hz bands as well as WPA3.

Re: Roku Ultra 2024 Notifications

Roku hasn’t included Gigabit Ethernet yet either. Roku is pretty mass market focused so even their "Ultra" is not super high-end. I was thinking Apple would be a better choice for specsmanship, but it looks like their current device only does Wi-Fi 6 as well. (But it does have Gigabit Ethernet.)

Don't understand your last statement. It doesn't have Gigabit. It has 10/100 Base-T Ethernet

Re: Roku Ultra 2024 Notifications

It says gigabit here. (Perhaps the confusion is about "it" which was meant to indicate the Apple product.)

Yes, you’re right. I didn’t know you meant the Apple TV

Re: Roku Ultra 2024 Notifications

Hi @DezM,

Thanks for posting here in the Roku Community!

We will be delighted to answer your inquiry about the Roku Ultra. We would like to inform you that the Ultra is not compatible with 6G networks. Not to be confused with "WiFi 6E," which is the version that can connect to 6G networks, the new ultra has "WiFi" 6. Wi-Fi 6 is limited to 2.4 and 5 GHz networks. I discovered on a different website: "WiFi 6 is capable of a maximum throughput speed of 9.6 Gbps, compared to 3.5 Gbps on WiFi 5 and 600Mbps on WiFi 4."

Hope you'll find this info useful. Let us know if you still have any questions.

Kind regards,
John
