Re: Remove "Categories" and "Browse" from Home Screen

It seems to me that they forgot where they came from. Forcing something into the home screen is beyond ludacris. I have 4 Roku TV's and a streaming stick. This kind of jackassery is why Im gonna throw them all away and go with Google products. This is beyond asinine.

Support my ass. If Roku cared about their customers an option would already exist.

I just had these stupid things show up on my home screen, if they don't give us a way to remove them I'm just gonna move to an Nvidia Shield, this is ridiculous

Clearly they believe they can satisfy advertisers to any extent claiming that they provide us the service at no cost.

I think they may be in for a rude awakening.

I agree with Real_DiRT.

First, we had to put up with a big Search Box and a Continue Watching list. Now it's Categories and Browse.

To all Roku techs and developers/programmers. Every time you "add" something to the Home Screen, you need to give us the ability to HIDE it - immediately. Not in some future software update. Immediately!

I've never been so disappointed with a company as I am with Roku right now!

Thanks for nothing Roku. I use the pixel phone and have since the gates boy gave up on the Windows phone. Not withstanding Roku has been a better dongle for making a dumb TV smart TV. I have a fire and I have Chromecast. I'm going to cancel the couple of subscriptions I have through Roku and go back to the Chrome Cast. Thanks for nothing Roku

Boycott Roku!  Make them the new Bud Light until they change this.

I have been a Roku customer since the Roku 2 and I've never posted on this forum but I am now. This is absolutely unacceptable to not be able to remove these options on my home screen. I have 2 young kids, all the apps on my home screen have age appropriate material for them that I can monitor. When I opened the "Movies" category - under trending the #1 title is "When Porn Ends 3" and I can't remove this option from my home screen. It's there for my kids to see along with anything else that may be "popular" or "trending" regardless of the program's rating. So Roku, do you feel this is a smart decision? I may not be able to remove this from my home screen but I can sure as **bleep** remove the Roku's from my home.

How much more are you going to add to my Home Screen?  I keep the least amount of clutter on the Home Screen. And now you add more? I want to be able to remove ‘categories’ like I remove ads. Now!! Not soon! I have Prime and YouTube, plus 2 local channels and that is all I want on my Home Screen. Why fix something that that isn’t broken?😡

I have been unable to figure out what sort of boycott would work given the business model.

I have considered in the past letting the channels know: i.e., when channels that don't interest me were  repeatedlty added, when removing them, I would always give them the lowest rating and when providing feedback say that the content offended me.

With the latest update, the options for star-ratings and for feedback have been removed. Such an obvious way to avoid what their customers actually think.

I also wonder why it was worth it to Roku in the beginning to provide a straightforward service; and why, as time went on, they decided they needed their business model to milk the users for everything possible.

In any case, I would boycott if I could figure out how. I don't check the Roku Community blog very often and maybe I should. It's usually when they amp up their intrusiveness or something new — like these utterly ridiculous "Categories" and "Browse" sections. Right now: just writing that makes me angry. I don't want any part of any of these, yet now I have to see them thrown in my face any time I am selecting a channel to watch.
