Re: Favorites above TV Guide - new feature
To Winston3338
I hate what they did to the menu function. I use the channel guide every day for OTA NETWORK channels. Yes I get about 75 OTA channels and all we're asking for is to return the simple channel guide we had when we purchased these products. Not this intrusive banner garbage. You want to be a fanboy? Go ahead. We on the other hand will continue to protest this change as is our right.
I own 4 Roku devices that were not this way when I purchase them, and I will not buy another Roku device unless or until they address this issue properly through communication with their customers. Roku is disenfranchising their customer base. I too am a retailer that provides sales and services so I get this. My "Solution" this past Christmas was to buy a Tivo device for one of my older TV's at my shop, and a new Google TV for my office. In time I will replace the 3 Roku devices at home as well. That's how free markets work. If you don't provide good customers service, they find another who will.

Re: Favorites above TV Guide - new feature
My new Google TV (Hisense 558UN, 2024) literally has a button on the remote that takes me to the live TV guide with just the antenna channels. There are 3 different guide views you can bring up while watching it.
Additionally, in the main Google TV interface, you can go to the live tab which currently incorporates separate slots for YouTube TV (if you subscribe), "tuner" for your antenna channels, Philo TV (FAST channels and regular if you subscribe), Google TV Freeplay FAST channels, Tubi, and Pluto. You can select a favorites list that incorporates channels from all of those services and it's displayed at the top of the page with no ads or anything in the way.
It's better than Roku and there's an apps tab for all the different services you might use.

Re: Favorites above TV Guide - new feature
I'll try to explain this so even your little pea brain can understand it. Banners and other major changes come from Roku brass and have nothing to do with customer service/customer support techs.
If I were a supervisor there I would tell my techs that if a customer writes in with a problem try to work together to solve it. If customers are on the community forum and you jump on and get in a pissing match with one of them, I want you to understand I will fire your ass so fast, your head will spin.
I'm very sorry a single down click has turned some of your lives upsidedown. We are but 20 or 30 people complaining and there are thousands who aren't complaining. I will not respond to any of you crybabies if your complaint is a single down click.

Re: Favorites above TV Guide - new feature
Okay... Then you attempt to insult my intelligence which is even more pathetic. FYI, I'm 65 years old, run my own business, and I'm not attempting to reprimand others for voicing their discontent with products they paid good money for. It's their right!

Re: Favorites above TV Guide - new feature
DJ Hawk I don't even hear you or read your crybaby garbage. I'm again in touch with someone from Roku who wishes to stay off the record. I don't even think their co-workers know they are speaking to me.
The banner is there because people are ending up with Roku TV's wether they like it or not. One of the biggest complaints is they can't navigate the hundreds of channels in the channel guide. They are basically watching over the air TV and don't know how to quickly scan the channels.
They are screaming for a way to know what's on some of there favorite channels in a way they can see and understand it. You are looking at Roku's best solution for now, the banner. They are receiving positive feedback about it so It may be here to stay. We need choice for change. The end

Re: Favorites above TV Guide - new feature
I don't care if you "hear or read what I write" because it's not about YOU. You just keep sticking your self important nose into this as if you have the Kings ear. It's about sharing our experiences good or bad, and voicing our opinions. And if enough people do so and aren't discouraged by personals attacks like people telling us to "grow up", then maybe Roku will take notice. Again, that's how discussion forums work, and how change gets done.
Example:
"We're glad to have you joined us here in the Roku "Community!"
That's an important question! Currently, this feature doesn't have an option to disable it on your Roku. Since you're our valued customer and we value your opinion, we'll take this as feedback and are happy to pass it along to the appropriate team.
Please let us if you need further clarification or need more help.
Cheers,
Emman"

Re: Favorites above TV Guide - new feature
I don't think you know how companies operate.
This forum is exactly where their developers should be interfacing with users, just like so many other successful companies do it, typically on reddit.
This is also where they should be speaking up and at least acknowledging us, telling us they hear us, and they're working on a fix.
They don't even have to say what the fix is in order to give us some solace.
I know you're some know-it-all boomer who's proud he knows Tony, but the dude is a joke just like the advice he gave you that's worthless.
"Do you have the power to change things where you work. I don't think so."
I am the CEO of a company that designs recreational vehicle technology and I hold over 2 dozen patents. Sit down.

Re: Favorites above TV Guide - new feature
Go away easytodobetter and take DLHugly with you. You seem to think Roku has to come on and answer your questions. When I told you they are the best customer service team we've ever seen you call me out and tell me you see no sign of that.
You are welcome to join the DL the 60 year old thin skin crybaby and report me. Infact allow me. Hello Roku, I'd like to report myself as not kissing ass on your forum. Many of us have been with you for decades and have never seen a bigger bunch of crybabies like these two fools. Thank you.
