Hello. This might be a really basic question but here goes.   If I get a sound bar/system from Roku does it work with the TV in general or just when using Roku.  Such as, watching a DVD or my regular local channels

It depends on the type of soundbar/system you have from Roku. If you have a Roku Smart Soundbar, it can work with any TV that has an HDMI ARC or HDMI-CEC compatible port, regardless of whether you're using Roku or not. This means you can use it to enhance the sound quality of anything you watch on your TV, including local channels or DVDs.

However, if you have a Roku TV Wireless Speakers or Roku Streambar, they are designed to work specifically with Roku TVs and may not work with other TV brands or devices. It's always a good idea to check the compatibility of your soundbar or system with your specific TV model and other devices before purchasing.
