I have an older 50" plasma TV that still performs well. It has 1080i as the best setting.

I'm hoping to "cut the cord" via a ROKU product. I see there's a few people who have asked similar questions, but the results are mixed. (some worked, some didn't). Is there a more definitive answer regarding a specific model of ROKU to use for accommodating 1080i over HDMI?
Maybe there's a legacy model that works? If so, I'd hunt for a used model.
Thanks for any help!
I don't think any Roku has supported 1080i, however, from the article you linked: "The 50-inch wide screen boasts a resolution of 1366x768 pixels" So I would suggest setting the Roku to 720p which is 1280x720. There used to be a lot of debate 20 years ago about whether 720p or 1080i was the better format. Fortunately, 1080p came along and ended the debate.
Here's a thread which leans towards 720p as being better overall than 1080i on that display.

I concur with @Strega2. I suspect the Roku will automatically set you to 720p as a result of the HDMI "handshake" in which the tv and its connected device exchange information and try to find mutually acceptable settings
I have an old Sony HD tube tv that weighs around 300 lbs. 1080i is also its best setting. I set up a Roku 4K Express with it and it detected 1080i and is working properly. It did not default to 720p. No issues.
