Damaged USB Port - it's busted!

We use our USB port to watch movies on our hard drive.  Up until a few days ago, this was working beautifully!  But I was plugging in and out directly into the USB drive (and not using an extension cable.  Now the port seems to be missing its "guts".  I don't know how else to say this, but the part that goes inside the metal rectangle is missing, and I can see the pins that usually plug into the guts.

How can I go about fixing this?

Re: Damaged USB Port - it's busted!

You'd have to take it apart and solder a new USB connector on it - not something the average user could do.
