Closed captioning won't stay off

Jump to solution

My close captioning on my TLC Roku TV keeps switching to always on when I have on mute selected. It happens when I turn off TV and turn it back on later.

I have this same problem.  I set off on captions setting and every time you turn the tv off or change to a different network they come back on

Your suggestion doesn't work.  Screen says it is off but the closed captions remain.  Now what??

Your solution doesn’t work.  I never turned them on !  Now they won’t go off !  I’ve made sure the CC is OFF 5 times and they won’t turn off.

Just started this morning! Never turned them on, and I have turned them off 5 times. Pops right back on. Driving us crazy! Is Roku broken?

This does not work! Every time I turn on my TV close caption comes back on. This started about the last month so it’s something an update caused! Please fix it!

I figured it out on mine. Press the asterisk on your REMOTE, not your tv settings. Turn off closed captions on your remote! So far so good for me.

Well, I used the asterisk on the remote, turned closed captioning off both in the channel settings and in the TV settings, the menu on the left that comes up. But next time I turn the TV on, CC is back. When we first got the TV, a Philips Roku from Walmart, CC didn't come up. After a while, it started. I wonder if a Roku update happened to cause this.
