Closed Caption won’t turn off

I try to close the Closed Caption off by going to settings-accessibility- turn off. It continues to turn back on with out prompting it on. It’s annoying and a displeasure. Please help.

Hi, @Kbendz14.

Welcome, and thanks for posting here in the Roku Community!

We understand that you're experiencing issues with closed captioning while streaming, and we would like to help.

To help us understand the issue better, could you let us know about...

  • In what specific channel or show does the closed-captioning continue to show even when turned off?
  • What Roku device is affected by this issue?

In the meantime, you may visit this support article: Turning closed captions on or off.

Please keep us posted.

Re: Closed Caption won’t turn off

Welcome to the Roku Community, @speedball0622!

We appreciate you reporting the trouble with the Closed Captioning on the Amazon Prime Video channel on your Roku device.

We all love streaming without interruptions—let’s get this sorted!

Closed captions are not visible until activated. For some service providers, closed captions are activated from within the channel. For many channels, closed captions can be activated from the settings of your Roku device.

  1. Press Home on your Roku remote
  2. Scroll and select Settings
  3. To open the Captions menu, select Accessibility. If Accessibility is not listed, select Captions.
  4. Select Captions mode and choose when captions appear

For channels that use the closed captioning settings available on your Roku device, closed captions can often be turned on or off during playback.

  1. After playback begins, press Star * on your Roku remote to open the Options menu
  2. Scroll and select Closed captioning.
  3. Choose when captions appear

Note: not all channels make this feature available. The setting is retained for future programs when closed captions are turned on or off during playback.

For reference, visit our Support article on how to enable closed captioning.

Let us know if this helps or if you need additional tips to speed things up!

Thank you,
Chel
