Channel Icons Are Very Small Now

My Boot Sequence starts off with the 3 columns, then goes to 3 columns of blank (sort of double vision) Icon placeholders, while it waits to "connect" after connecting it goes to the 4 column icon layout.

Its doing this on my 3820 @ 12.5.0 for sure & I believe now it follows the same pattern on the 3900 @ 12.0.0.

Re: Channel Icons Are Very Small Now

Thank you for posting here in the Roku Community, @Bismarck318!

We appreciate you for sharing your input. Please be aware that the 4-channel tile/columns are part of the new update. This feature is available on the 12.5.0 OS version.

Please don't hesitate to let us know if there's anything else we can be of assistance with, or feel free to create a new thread for different concerns.

Best regards,
Carly

Re: Channel Icons Are Very Small Now

@RokuCarly  Should I be seeing the 4 columns on my 3900R that is still @ rev 12.0.0?  As I am, is this device in the process of an update?

Re: Channel Icons Are Very Small Now

Thanks for responding, @Bismarck318.

The latest OS version 12.5.0 is currently in the process of rolling out. We can't fully determine the specific devices that will be updated first. All of Roku's streaming devices and TVs will slowly but surely get the update.

Hope this clears everything out! Let us know if there's anything else.

Best regards,
Carly

Re: Channel Icons Are Very Small Now

There had been talk from Roku moderators, a few weeks back, that an update was on the way to give us an option to either keep the 4x4 or revert back to the 3x3 set up. I haven't seen any updates since. I wonder if this is even still the case, or if they are backing out as the voices against the new grid are quieting.

Can a moderator confirm this update is still coming or if it has been cancelled?

Hi @RP08,

Thanks for the post! The feature to select an option on this is not yet fully launched, and we don't have further updates available about it.

The feedback that we have gathered on this thread is always top-notch and reported directly to the right team.

We really do appreciate it, and we're sorry for any inconvenience this has caused.

Best regards,

New update just now. 12.5 Build 4178-CR. Still no option to revert back to old grid. Each time it restarts it shows old grid for a second, then shows the 4x4 grid.

Also wished Roku would show what these updates actually Did!

Re: Channel Icons Are Very Small Now

The 4x4 grid is NOT part of the 12.5 OS update. It's actually provided by what Roku refers to as "middleware" and is independent of the OS update. None of my Roku devices have the 4x4 grid, either on 12.0 or 12.5. Some users have reported having 4x with 12.0 and 12.5.

All we do know is that the ability to switch between 4x and 3x is going to come with some version of 12.5. But as of today they have not released the version of the OS.

Re: Channel Icons Are Very Small Now

Right. But Roku moderators kept saying an option would be in an upcoming update. With each new build, I keep checking settings, etc. So I'm just letting people know it hasn't been released yet.

But again, it would be nice if Roku would release "patch notes" with the updates.
