I find this issue not only frustrating but odd...I own a samsung s90c qdoled so I know my tv is capable even though the 2024 roku ultra is telling me that it's not capable of switching my display to use the 4.2.2 settings? I bought this because it was said to be faster and I liked the way the apps themselves were set up very much like they were on my Samsung Q80B...I know my tv is capable of running 4.4.4 let alone 4.2.2 through the same 8k highwings 2.1 hdmi cable. Really wanted this to work because I'm not happy with the way the apps are on my apple tv 4k at all...Yes that's how I know my tv and cables are capable of running those formats...Any and all help would be amazing!
Thank you
Welcome to the Roku Community, @ModJPB.
Thanks for letting us know about the behavior you've encountered on your Roku device, which is not allowing you to switch to 4.2.2 HDR. We also appreciate the steps you took to resolve it.
For troubleshooting purposes, have you tried connecting the device to another TV to see if you are experiencing the same issue?
Note that the HDR settings on some TVs are specific to each HDMI input. Please make sure to change the settings specific to the HDMI input where your Roku player is connected.
However, the steps may vary from model to model and may change when TV software is updated. When in doubt, refer to the user manual or online documentation for your specific make and model.
We look forward to hearing your response.
Thanks,
Chel
Hi @EBaker541,
Thanks for posting, and welcome to the Roku Community!
We understand you are having trouble switching the display type with your Roku streaming device.
For clarification, are you plugging your Roku device directly into the TV, a receiver, or some other audio device? Also, have you tried contacting Samsung support yet to inquire further?
We commend starting there to see what options or suggestions they can provide because it might need to do something on the TV side to activate it. A specific HDMI port or HDMI setting within.
Please keep us posted on what you find out, and we'll continue assisting you from there.
All the best,
Chel
I am having the same issue. Samsung s90c plugged directly to TV. I have tried different HDMI ports on the TV, enabled HDMI plus on ports. It's weird, I have a Roku ultra that is 2 generations before the 2024 model and 4:2:2 works on the older Roku.
