14.1.4 Build 7709 will not allow me to add channels

Two of my streaming sticks updated this evening, and removed the standard home screen. After some looking around I went to add apps like Youtube and Amazon but I get an error. I select and app, it thinks about it, then returns a Couldn't install app box, "Could not add zxy app: Error.

Anyone know why Roku decided to break the user experience on a Friday night, or how to fix this?

@pandsdogs

The first steps are to perform a System Restart on your Roku device (Settings/System/Power/System Restart or Settings/System/Restart depending on device) and then a reboot of the router if still having issues.

I actually had to do a factory restore to get it back up. not a good way for Roku to do an update.

At any rate I appreciate your help and wish you a very blessed evening/day.

Thank you.

Hi @pandsdogs,

Thanks for posting in the Roku Community!

We appreciate you for bringing to our attention the issue with your Roku devices, which prevented you from adding channels after the update to version 14.1.4 Build 7709. We’re also glad to hear that you were able to fix the problem.

However, we would like to coordinate this with our Roku team for further investigation. Please provide us with the following details:

  • Tracker ID (when you see this issue occur, press the Home button 5 times, followed by the Back button 5 times, and provide us with this ID)
  • Roku device model, serial number, and device ID (this can all be found in Settings>System>About)

We look forward to your response.

Cheers,
The Roku Community Team
