Why does roku have update in the middle of a movie or tv show? Is there anyway to stop automatic software downloads or program them for a time when im not watching tv?
Hi @Kandirose86,
Greetings from the Roku Community!
Thank you for taking the time to post and ask questions regarding how your Roku device is doing with software updates. Typically, all Roku streaming players and TV models are made to make sure the software is always up to date. When it is first turned on, when it is first set up, and then sporadically every 24 to 36 hours, your Roku device will check to see if there is new software available for download. Your usage of the Roku device remains uninterrupted during the automatic download and installation processes. In addition to your TV or streaming device, any Roku accessories, including wireless speakers or a subwoofer, will update immediately.
How often did it happen to you and how long does your software update?
To ensure uninterrupted viewing, we advise checking for updates manually before streaming.
Best regards, Eunice
