Unable to hear sound from the Roku Streambar when streaming Non-Dolby Sources

Jump to solution

I have the same problem. Contrary to Roku's response, nothing comes from the streambar when watching tv channels.

When I purchased the speakers and set them up as rear speakers, I quickly found that they only work when using a dolby source. Nothing from non Dolby sources. Everything from the streambar as before.

Even when watching a dolby movie, the rear sounds are occasional and low volume. I've tried everything. Yes, I have speaker stands, positioned speakers behind the couch, aimed at ears. Yes, I've tried customizing the sound. It's almost impossible to crank any sound out of the speakers independently of the streambar. So I have to have the whole setup at ear splitting volume to even notice the speakers.

Roku advertising should clearly identify these issues and warn people they are wasting money. The streambar by itself gives you almost everything you need without extra expense and hassle.

Could you folks at Roku find a software fix to independently adjust wireless sound and have the streambar actually working with front speakers?

Hi, @ktopalian!

Welcome, and thanks for posting here in the Roku Community!

We understand you're encountering unintended behavior within your Roku Streambar's audio. We're here to look into this issue closely.

Have you considered unpairing your Roku Wireless Speakers from your Roku Streambar and then pairing them again? This can often resolve many connection issues. If you haven’t tried this yet, I recommend checking out this article setting up your Roku Wireless Speakers. It provides detailed instructions that ensure you follow each step correctly. Additionally, if the problem persists, you might want to perform a factory reset on your Roku Wireless Speakers. This process can help restore the speakers to their original settings and may fix any lingering issues you’re experiencing.
