Roku won’t play anything on the channel

After choosing a show, and hitting play, screen goes black for a split second and Roku just goes back to the show page.

this has happened multiple times for a week or so at a time.

have reset, reader channels, all the things.

Permanent fix would be nice please!

Thanks for the post.

Does the issue only occur on a specific channel or across other channels installed on your Roku device?

If you haven't tried yet, you can remove the affected channel and then re-install it. To ensure the process is successful, restart your device before adding the channel back in. We would recommend doing this from the Settings menu by navigating to Settings > System > Power (If you do not see a Power submenu, skip to the next step.) > System restart.

No shows work.

I e already completed all those steps prior to submitting this request. Still no luck.

For clarification, are you experiencing the issue on all channels installed on your Roku device? Could you also tell us how are you powering your Roku device? Is it connected to the USB port of the TV or to a wall outlet? In some cases, the USB power provided by the TV is not sufficient to power the device. Even though your Roku device may appear to be working, running with insufficient power can lead to instability, crashing, and other unpredictable behavior.

Using the included power cord and power adapter, we suggest plugging your Roku into a working power outlet in the wall. Powering it through a power outlet in the wall has the additional advantage that your Roku player will not need to power up every time you turn on your TV.

This is Roku TV. So no issues with the power connection.

Experiencing this issue ONLY on Roku’s channel.

within the Roku channel, no TV show or movie will play. Just refreshes back to the selection screen. This has happened twice now in the past month or so for me. Lasts about a week. then resolves itself.

But I noticed this issue has been reported by many others starting a few years ago. Would appreciate a permanent fix.

Thanks for following up. 

We would like to forward your information to our Roku team for further investigation. Kindly provide us with the following details:

  • Roku device model, serial number, device ID, and software OS/version (these can all be found in Settings > System > About)
  • The channel version/build (this can be found by selecting the channel on the Home screen and pressing the * button)
  • Tracker ID when this issue occurs (when you see this issue occur, press the Home button 5 times, followed by the Back button 5 times, and provide us with this ID)
  • GC build (this can be found by scrolling up within The Roku Channel and selecting About)

Once we have this information, we will be able to pass it along to the Roku team.

Having the same issue. Tried the solutions provided and they did not work. I have collected the tracker information - how do I get this to you?
