I have the same problem with brand new TV. I have to go into manage channels everytime to get them back. I even put all my local channels as favorites and when you turn the TV back on they are gone. Once you go into manage channels a few times you can get it the guide to show correctly as OTA and streaming channels. When you shut it off and turn back on it does not work again. This is the only reason I bought this TV. Any suggestions on how to keep it working.
this is exactly correct. I used both and couldn't figure out why it worked sometimes and not others. When in the main app menu click right and select the Live TV with the box that has lines and you get both OTA and your streaming. Thank you-now I don't hate my purchase. RoKU -why are you not explaining this to people-It is confusing.
Hello! @jeantvutah,
We appreciate you sharing your post in the Roku Community!
Thank you for reaching out to us. We understand your confusion with your channels when Live TV channels aren't showing your antenna channels as expected. We're pleased to assist.
With the Live TV Channel Guide, your TV listings are combined into a single channel grid. This is a helpful part of watching TV on your Roku TV system by letting you quickly find your favorite free, live TV. You can access the Live TV Channel Guide directly from The Roku Channel or from the convenient Live TV app on your TV's home screen.
If you want to hide streaming TV channels and only see information for "over-the-air" channels, you can go to Settings > TV inputs > Live TV > Hide streaming TV channels and select Hide all. If you want to hide the Live TV app from the home screen, highlight it, press Star on your Roku remote, and then select Remove input.
For additional help and detailed instructions, read the article about using the Live TV Channel Guide to find TV listings.
Thanks,
Arjiemar
PS - Sort your posts from newest to oldest. Seeing oldest first makes no sense and is confusing.
Hiding the streaming Channels works but is a terrible solution since we still want to watch the streaming channels. It is too hard to navigate to find the desired channel.
Knowing what I know now, I would not have selected this TV. It is too hard to navigate as a TV for the live TV with no number pad & the antennna local stations not easily assessable . Watching from the different apps works great.
This answer still doesn’t answer the Question about why Roku TV’s actively hide free live antenna signals from the user of their terrible tvs. It seems like Roku is actively trying to create a system so difficult to use that you’re forced to pay them for their terrible service.
Terrible advice to make it seem like Roku tvs are useful with antenna. They are not.
My Hisense ROKU TV lost the OTA channels in the Live TV menu in October this year.
It was OK before that.
Now I have to do this sequence each time to get to the OTA channels:
Settings->TV Inputs->Live TV->Manage Channels->Manage All Channels->OK->Left Arrow,
At this point the OTA channel is shown. Just use the UP, DN, LEFT, RIGHT keys
to select channels. If I push the Home key, I have to enter the above sequence again to get to the OTA channels.
My TV is two or three years old. Wonder if there is a compatibility issue with the latest software update.
Wish they wouldn't do the automatic software update behind our backs.
Hiding Stream Channel did nothing on my TV. I still could not get to the OTA channels using the Live TV menu item. On my Hisense TV this is the sequence of operations I have to use to get to OTA channels:
Settings->TV Inputs->Live TV->Manage Channels->Manage All Channels->OK->Left Arrow,
This is the evolution of the problem on my Roku TV:
Originally there was a simple Live TV menu item for accessing the OTA channels as well as the stream channels. After a software update sometime in the past year, there was a new purple Live TV menu item. But the original Live TV menu item was still there. After another recent update, the original
Live TV menu item is gone. Only the new purple one is left. The purple one does not allow
access to the OTA channels, even if I disable the stream channels in the Settings as suggested by the Roku representative.
