Re: Prime and Netflix crashing on Roku TV

Jump to solution

Same exact issue. Netflix is the worst, but prime won't run for more than an hour without a crash. I bought this tv , a 32" onn Roku smart tv at Walmart for like 100 bucks, so it is what it is, but would like to know if there is some kind of fix for this. It's irritating as **bleep** and I have only had the tv for like two months.

Thi- this worked… it feels like a Roku cheat code, but it worked! Prime video is playing great now! No more crashes 5 seconds, 40 seconds, 1 minute 20, etc etc into the movie we’re trying to watch

What ended up fixing it for me was clearing the Roku cache. I used the method described below but I imagine doing it the way that @RokuLianna shared would work too. Hope this helps someone.

  • Go to the home screen. Make sure you're on the home menu item.
  • Press the home button 5 times
  • Press up once
  • Press rewind twice
  • Press fast forward twice
  • The screen will freeze for up to 30 seconds, then the device will reboot.

I have contacted support and have deleted and reinstalled each app. I have factory reset my tv.

I have updated each app

I have cleared cache.

My Roku tv and my Roku box in the bedroom are both doing it'

This last report ID I just posted was Fox news reverting back to Home screen after watching for an hour.

That did not work for me. I have had enough of this BS!! I've deleted Netflix and Prime, reinstalled them and STILL have freaking issues! MY TV IS TWO MONTHS OLD!!!!! I've tried everything except for voodoo. There is absolutely no reason for this, considering how much I paid for this TV, how much I pay for services, and NO reason why I have to keep effing around with this brand new TV like this!! UGH SO MAD!!

That "clear cache app" thing, is not set up like that on my Roku. There is no app setting after the advanced settings. I've looked all over, I'm really over this tv, nothing but trouble and it's two months old.
