i know ive lost that feature to, bass boost actually worked and worked well too. why would they do away with it bring it back now
- billfullerBinge Watcher
First time Roku has gone backwards in their updates which means not doing the right amount of testing. That’s bad. I have all Roku speakers bass boost feature really highlights the deep bass in the wireless speakers as well as the sub woofer. Now they sound inferior with out that feature. Now it sounds like I need a subwoofer and I have one. Not good Roku not good
- EP512Binge Watcher
Yes the change to the menu for the subwoofer is a step backwards. The sound is diminished without the bass boost. Also, it was convenient to turn the bass off when you want to watch something late at night. We should all let Roku tech help know we are not happy with the change.
- StreamerSueRoku Guru
You now have different sound themes. The bass and treble can be individually controlled. I have mine set to 4 on the bass and 6 on the treble with my Roku Wireless speakers and subwoofer
I used to be able to set bass from 0-10 and now doesn’t give the option only says reset normal sound settings

Not sure how to get Roku to do this. Please bring back the Bass Boost setting to Roku Audio products. Since the most recent update the sound quality has suffered. I know a lot of people have tried all kinds of combos of the new audio settings but nothing compares to Bass Boost (which is gone). Please if you support this lets try to get Roku to listen.

Seriously, Roku, I've spent all this $ for surround sound, and you take away BASS BOOST!? switch it back

I have a 1980s stereo connected from my TV headphone Jack and I just turn up the bass on the stereo it has that capability even from 1980 I don't know maybe new stereos don't and maybe you can't do it on a sound bar

I have 4 Roku surrounded speakers, Roku subwoofer, and a Roku Streambar Pro. I was (and still am) really upset that my Bass Boost setting is gone. What are you thinking? Why did you feel it was necessary to do this? I want my old sound settings back
- erniejohnson1Newbie
I agree. I had Bass Boost until I foolishly reset my Roku Sound Bar because at times it would not turn on. It doesn't sound the same now without bass boost.. I would not have purchased their sub-woofer if I would have known!!!! Looking to buy a different sound bar now!!!
- PatBezChannel Surfer
Not sure, but im pretty pissed- I had my tv/surround just how I like it and now I've been messing with it for 2 days and still ain't happy

I invested in a Roku premium streaming speaker bar along with its accompanying satellites and subwoofer… it appeared to have phenomenal tone and richness with the Bass Boost option engaged; truly dynamic and impactful sound… with its latest OS update, the sound has dwindled to mediocrity, otherwise, ordinary. Had the system sounded the way it does now with the update, I would have returned it. Bring back he sound I paid for. Manipulating photographs is a total unacceptable, and in my opinion, an unnecessary feature to the audio dashboard.

Just got a TCL 85 inch and soundbar, speakers and bass. Over 3,000 dollars and now the sound system sounds like **bleep** without the boost. Roku I need you to fix the problem, it's like I don't have a sub woofer anymore.
- BCRouk111970Binge Watcher
Tell me about it, I still have not found a sweet spot yet.

As the description states, I'm wondering why my Roku wireless speakers sound "weak" in comparison to how they sounded before the Roku update. Music, movies and games had more bass in it than it does now. I know you have the independent bass and treble options under sound settings, but it doesn't sound nearly as good as they did before the update. Even with the bass set to max, the bass from the wireless speakers just doesn't sound as good as it did before. For instance, when I listened to bass heavy tracks before the update, I actually felt some vibration from the speakers. Not anymore. I hope Roku does an update to fix this for those of us that don't have the option of using a subwoofer because we stay in apartments.
- WillieTChannel Surfer
I agree wholeheartedly with your assessment. The latest OS update robbed the Roku dashboard of its once signature sound settings. With bass boost engaged, it was not necessary to dial up the bass and treble settings any farther than 2, to hear the subs’ deep, authoritative impact, and the seamless blending of the satellite speakers. Combined, the complete system had a signature sound of its own. Currently, it’s lackluster sound fatigues the ears… it keeps you wanting for the adjustability it once had. It’s time to end these pleads for Roku to correct its blunder… Could it be the company no longer cares, and that we’re stuck with its diluted product.
- EP512Binge Watcher
WillieT you said it better than I have. Yes, on the previous menu you didn't have to 'dial' the bass from 1 to 10 to adjust. You had the 4 choices, which included bass boost and bass off. Bass off was convenient when you wanted to watch something late at night. You just went to bass off instead of having to click 10 notches. And most of all the sound diminished after the update everyone got. There's no point in going in circles with this. The update changed the bass menu. Danny the Roku moderator/helper just needs to acknowledge this and let us know if the bass menu can be restored with a software update.

jtac140 I have the Roku wireless speakers and subwoofer paired to my Roku TV. I live in a very large apartment and the subwoofer is not an issue. The Roku wireless speakers really don’t have much based because they’re meant to be used as surroundsound speakers. With Roku 10.5 I had plenty of bass. Sound was set to normal and bass at 4 and treble at 6. Now I set the sound to movie and did not touch any other settings. Leveling is off. With Roku 11 the sound schemes changed. But the wireless speakers aren’t supposed to have bass. They aren’t meant to. That’s why you pair it with a subwoofer. I have a Samsung Soundbar with subwoofer on another tv. The soundbar is nothing without the sub.

Trust me I get what you're saying, but it just had more of a bass presence, or at least seemed like it had more bass than what it was. I may just have to invest in the other pieces, but the fact is my apartment is really small and the walls here are paper thin, which is why I don't want to go with the subwoofer, but I might just have to bite the bullet so to speak and pick one up so I can play with it for a bit. I do have another question if you don't mind me asking though. Maybe I'm just getting older, but the speakers seem to produce a muffled bass dialogue with certain vocals coming through the speakers. Not sure if I'm the only one hearing them this way, but does the soundbar help with the muffled bass response with male vocals? Majority of the time it's fine, but some dialogue is hard to understand because of that. I know we have the speech clarity option now, and I've been playing around with it, but it also reduces overall bass frequencies. Anyway, thanks for the input 😁👍👍

Yes Roku OS 11 update, I miss it too. I wish I could go back to OS 10.5
- wbembChannel Surfer
What changed, did an update do it?
All of a sudden, Bass Boost is gone from my Sound Bar Pro sound settings menu. Looks like it's been replaced by, Sound Mode?- StreamerSueRoku Guru
Roku OS 11 changed your sound settings. Now you can select from standard, movie and more. You can also turn the bass and treble up separately
- wbembChannel Surfer
Thank you, I know I can do it separately. I like the change! Bass Boost was just too restrictive. I like selection. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't a device problem. I've got both woofer & rear speakers.
I wish they'd come up with better separation on the device itself! Hard to get good separation from a 32" unit.
The unit plus addons are already waaay overpriced!!
- Celeste1Channel Surfer
Please bring back bass boost, the sound is so poor, no matter how I adjust the sound, its horrible 😢...I also have to turn it up louder
- PatBezChannel Surfer
So when it came to advanced audio settings, I had the 'bass boost' turned on. I have all roku surround products, btw.
Anyone know what # I should set the bass to NOW?
- StreamerSueRoku Guru
What number? Depends upon what you like. Everyone likes different things. I have mine set to movie mode, bass at 4 and treble at 6. It’s personal preference
- Bobbo323Channel Surfer
They should restore the settings or give us back our money
- WillieTChannel Surfer
The first thing is to place your satellite speakers where they produce the best stereo imaging. As for the sub’s placement, I would follow Roku’s placement guide for achieving better low frequency, by placing the sub near a room corner or close to the wall, and use your bass tone control to increase or decrease its intensity until the sound suits your taste. If bass richness still isn’t full enough, try setting bass control between 1 to 5, so as not to muddy the bass, and your treble control between 2 to 3 to achieve spaciousness. Once set, use the volume control to project the sound. If the sound still isn’t right, like the rest of us, you will have to wait until Roku decides to restores its sound dashboard back to its original operating specification, which is why we are all here salivating for.

Thanks,

this isnt rocket science dan with 11 update it did away with the feature bass boost, it made the speakers pop with bass know your product dan before you comment its evident you dont have or use roku devices. its as obvious as if ford started making cars with out doors on them and people started complaining about wheres my door. easy bring back bass boost case closed.
- Celeste1Channel Surfer

- PatBezChannel Surfer
It's EASY- BRING BACK BASS BOOST.

BRING BACK BASS BOOST

Yes this should be looked into. I noticed that right after Roku had the last update that the choices for the bass boost were gone. The menu originally had reduce bass, normal, bass boost or bass off, after you pressed the *. The bass boost at that time really enhanced the bass. Now with the control for the bass the bass is diminished. You also don't have the bass off option which I used later at night, which was so convenient. The serial no. of my Roku Streambar is YL00A6905937. The subwoofer's serial is Y200E4749948. Although, I doubt if the serial #'s have anything to do with the bass options disappearing. They should update back to the reduce bass, normal, bass boost or bass off menu. As others have said it really is a noticeable diminishment of the overall sound since that last update.
- EP512Binge Watcher
In my prior post I didn't put in all the info requested to look into the loss of the bass boost. I believe the reason for the bass boost being removed was that software version.
Model: 9102R - Roku Streambar
Serial # YL00A6905937
Device ID 2A11AA905937
Software OS/version 11.0.0 build 4193-95

There have been numerous discussions regarding loss of dynamic range since Roku’s recent OS Update. I’ve been an avid fan of Roku’s streaming devices, till lately. It was a great leap for audio excellence when Roku launched its streaming Bluetooth speakers… Their satellites, Pro Series dialog enhanced center channel, and very capable subwoofer, in my opinion upped the game with companies as Sonus, Denon and Bose to name a few. Their engineers created an awesome custom dashboard which truly brought their mini systems to life with rich, near DSP tuning with pressurized room enveloping high fidelity sound. I know everything is subject to change without notice, for product betterment, but why did you change the sound?! It’s heartbreaking for those of us to have this very capable system in our homes with an automatic update that ruined its sound. Why not use your streaming engineering prowess to generate a line of tower speakers to match your Pro Center Channel as a technology advancement and leave what you currently have going as the initial Icon that started it all. Bottom line, restore the initial equalization that was present in OS 11 update. The bass boost option affected the satellites midrange excellence as well as the subwoofers richness!
- Celeste1Channel Surfer
I enjoyed their rich sound, I have the tower speakers and sound bar, and was about to get the woofer, but why now? The sound now is horrible
