Hello,
I have a TCL 55S405 and the screen acts like it doesn't have a backlight. When I turn on, it flickers briefly but no longer shows backlight even in darkness for me to navigate. Here's the video:
TCL TV turn on and turn off - YouTube
I have seen other posts state putting it in Movie Mode has resolved their issue:
Solved: Roku TCL TV insanely dim/dark screen - Roku Community
That posting is closed and I can reply to ask so I'm creating this new one.
Can someone be kind enough to determine from a full unplugged state, to power on, to home screen what key combinations are needed to put into Movie Mode?
Thanks in advance,
Jason
Hi @j12345HPGWSDOHF,
Thank you for letting us know about the issue you're running into.
Based on the supporting video you've sent, this seems to be a complete blackout on the TV screen. Have you tried performing a force restart by plugging out your TV to the power source and plugging it back in to a different power outlet for approximately 60 seconds? If not, we would suggest you do so. Additionally, kindly check for physical issues with the wiring at the back of the TV. If the issue persists, kindly locate the reset button on your TV and click on it for a good 5 seconds. Kindly observe the LED light underneath the TV to check if the reset was successful. The reset ought to resolve minor black screen problems.
We hope this helps, and please share with us what you find out.
Sincerely,
Janadee
I have tried that, that is why I'm here asking for key sequence to change mode to Movie Mode. If you can provide that, that would be appreciated.
Hi @j12345HPGWSDOHF,
Thanks for keeping us posted!
We appreciate that you have tried the troubleshooting steps above. This might be a hardware-related problem. Have you reached out to TCL support to get further information yet? I'd advise beginning there to see their choices or recommendations. Direct support for their Roku OS products is offered by each Roku TV maker.
Please let us know if there's anything else we can do to help you.
Best regards,
John
