Re: Guest Mode Loop Boot Loop After Upgrading to Roku OS 14

Jump to solution

Hi Community,

Thanks for bringing this issue to our attention. We understand the inconvenience of your Roku device automatically exiting guest mode after the update.

To resolve this issue, we recommend performing a factory reset:

  1. Locate the Reset Button: Find the reset button on your Roku device, usually located on the back or bottom.
  2. Power On: Ensure your Roku TV is powered on.
  3. Press and Hold: Press and hold the reset button for exactly 10 seconds.
  4. Watch for Blinking Light: The light will blink rapidly during the reset process. Once it returns to a normal blinking rate, release the button.

If the issue persists after a factory reset, please provide the following information:

  • Device Details: Your Roku device model, serial number, device ID, and OS version (found in Settings > System > About).
  • Tracker ID: To obtain this, press the Home button 5 times, followed by the Back button 5 times while the issue occurs.
  • Troubleshooting Steps: List any troubleshooting steps you've already tried.

We'll mark this post as solved to increase visibility and help other users who may encounter the same issue.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. We're committed to resolving this problem as soon as possible.

Guest mode keeps signing out then restarting tv

Jump to solution

Please help. I just checked into an Airbnb. The tv in the living room works, but the one in the bedroom keeps continuously saying “Guest mode signing out” then restarts the tv. Once the TV restarts, it just does that vicious cycle.

That is not a realistic request when you have as many Roku TV's as I do.  Doing a factory reset each time is also not a good answer.

Hi @fullnelson70,

Welcome to the Roku Community!

We're sorry to hear about your experience with the Guest Mode feature on your Roku device. We want to confirm how many Roku TVs you own and if all are experiencing the same issue.

To resolve this issue, we recommend performing a factory reset on one of your Roku TVs to see if it helps resolve the problem.

If the issue persists, kindly provide us with the following information so we can include your device in the process of investigation:

  • Roku device model, serial number, device ID, and current software version. (this can all be found in Settings > System > About)
  • Tracker ID (when you see this issue occur, press the Home button 5 times, followed by the Back button 5 times, and provide us with this ID)

We'll be looking forward to your response.

All the best,
Chel

This is a temp fix. The most recent update has caused the issue. I have so far had this problem on 46 TVs, across multiple manufacturers. We need a new update that fixes the bug.

A factory reset is a terrible option. The issue comes back with the update when guest mode is enabled.

.Use the web portal to disable guest mode instead of factory resetting and leave guest mode disabled until a proper update is released.

My guests are having the same issue. Factory reset button isn’t working so far.

Having this issue in my Airbnbs as well. Seems like 10 seconds is a factory reset. 30 seconds is a "recovery mode".

Recovery mode just does a software update and then loops again. Factory reset required me to login, then did a software update. Now itbis updating 73 channels.

As I sit here way past my check-in time hoping it gets fixed before guests arrive...

What a mess!
