To the Roku engineers. Recently purchased the new 75" Pro Series Roku TV. Since I have using Roku for years, I trusted that when you introduced your own brand of TV's it would have all of the latest features and technology available.
While I have no complaints about the quality of the picture, whether it's 4K, HDR10+ or Dolby Vision, I notice from the start there is motion blur on fast moving action sceens. I was very surprised that a TV with so many so called advanced features, the 75" Pro Series TV doesn't have a motion smoothing or VRR setting.
Why would Roku add features such as Local Dimming or Micro Contrast, and not offer motion smoothing? I have a 10 year old Samsung that has this setting. I gave my son my TCL 65" Series 6 when I purchased the Roku TV. Unless this can be corrected through software updates, this will probably be a $1,200 mistake.
Update to my last post. My Roku TV is the PLUS Series. I typed pro by mistake.
Ah yes "Motion Smoothing" a feature that people famously love and want and never disable...
Weird you are upset it's missing...even though it's not. It's called Action Smoothing in the settings and it comes with every Roku TV as far as I'm aware. You probably also want to disable noise reduction as this can create some similar and pretty undesirable artifacts especially in video with film grain.
I hate motion smoothing, I will always have it disabled. It displays movies and TV shows having that terrible "Soap Opera Effect" that everyone hates and it makes the video completely unwatchable in my opinion. The motion smoothing setting is supposed to be for sports and gaming I think, but for everything else it ruins the picture completely.
