Youtube videos randomly stopping for no reason.

Recently Youtube has stopped working right. Videos will play for a few minutes and then randomly freeze.

The same video will generally continue to freeze every time. Other times it'll just go black and you have to go back to find a different video to play.

I've tried connecting to a different network, I've tried WiFi, I've tried direct connection via ethernet. I don't have any weird DNS settings, no adblockers etc.

I've deleted the Youtube channel, I've tried different accounts, I've tried making the Roku forget it's network settings all together and reconnecting.

I've tried updating the Roku software but there was no updates. At this point I have no clue what's going on.

Re: Youtube videos randomly stopping for no reason.

Hi @Zushiba

Welcome to the Roku Community!

Does the issue only occur on YouTube or across other channels installed on your Roku device?

Have you tried removing the affected channel YouTube and then re-install again? If not,we suggest starting there. In some cases, removing the affected channel and then re-installing it may help. Restart your device before re-adding the channel back in to ensure the process is successful. We recommend doing this through the Settings menu by navigating to Settings > System > Power (If there is no Power submenu, proceed to the next step.) > System restart.

For detailed instructions, refer to this Support link for more information: How to resolve a channel playback issue | Official Roku Support.

Let us know if there's any difference after.

Yes it's just Youtube, no other apps are having this issue.

I've tried deleting / restarting / reinstalling the app, the issue persists.

Re: Youtube videos randomly stopping for no reason.

Hi  @Zushiba

Thanks for keeping in touch!

Many channels on Roku are maintained by the channel provider themselves. Since the error only occurs on the YouTube channel, that's an indication that there's likely an issue within that specific channel that needs to be addressed with an update from them. We indeed recommend contacting YouTube Support to report the issue and get help.

Thank you for your understanding.

Warm Regards,
Lianna
