[Solved] YouTube TV Unable to Launch

Jump to solution

Hey everyone,

We believe this issue may be resolved.

  • If you still have the app tile on your home screen, select it and press the * button on your remote. Choose the option to update the channel.
  • If that doesn't work, check for a system update: Home > Settings > System > Software Update > Check Now.
  • You might need to re-install the app from the Channel Store after updating your system.
  • In some cases, restarting your device might help: Home > Settings > System > Power > Restart.

We're marking this thread as solved, but if you're still having problems after trying these steps, please create a new thread and include your Device ID.

Thanks again for your help!

Best,

YouTube app not on homescreen

Jump to solution

I was having issues with YouTube and deleted and redownloaded because it would not load. I then updated my TV now I cannot add it to the home screen. Not sure how to fix this! I also cannot delete the app to try and redownload.

Did you add it from the TV or the website?  It seems that several people have reported that apps added from the website aren't showing up on the Home Screen.  To remove it, try searching for it within the mobile app.  There should be an option to remove it.  Restart your TV from Settings->System->Power and once it reboots try adding it from the "Streaming Store" on the TV.

This exact same thing happened to me. It was YouTube TV, though, not YouTube. It wouldn't open, so I deleted it and re-added it, then signed in again. But it won't show on the home screen, and the only way to open YouTube TV now is to search for it and select it, then click "Open App". I can't Add it again, and I can't delete it. I would like a solution on this also. I performed all of this on the device, not online, which is the method that is supposed to work.

Hi @MW5812,

Welcome to the Roku Community!

We understand that your YouTube TV app won't show on your Roku Home screen, where you can see the added channels on your Roku. We would be more than willing to sort this out for you.

Please try the following.

Update your Roku device:

  1. Press Home on your Roku remote
  2. Scroll and select Settings
  3. Select System
  4. Select Software update
  5. Select Check Now to manually check for updates

If after the update the issue persists, please provide us with the following details below:

  • Roku device model, serial number, device ID, and OS version. (this can all be found in Settings > System > About)
  • Tracker ID (when you see this issue occur, press the Home button 5 times, followed by the Back button 5 times, and provide us with this ID)
  • Channel build version (highlight the channel, and press the star * button of your Roku remote)

We look forward to your update!

Cheers,
Riamie

Hello I am also seeing this issue with the YouTube TV app.  I did a software update and it did not resolve the problem.  The only way I can access YouTube TV is to go to Add new apps, search for it, when it shows up in the search results there's an open button. (No way to delete re-add etc)

Here are the details of my system:

Model: 3941x2 Roku Express 4k

Serial: x02200CEGW06

Device ID: S0HAK43EGW06

OS version: 14.1.4 build 7709-E4

Tracker ID: 06-005-379

I cannot provide the cannel build number as it doesn't show up on the home screen 😉

Hi there, I had the exact same thing. I just fixed mine by opening the Roku mobile phone app, going to Devices (icon at bottom of screen) and selecting "Apps on Roku" and found the YouTubeTV app there. I deleted it using the phone app. Then turned on my TV, went to search and selected YouTubeTV. This time I got Add App instead of Open App. Clicked it, then went straight to the Home screen and it was there!!

Thank you, This resolved it for me.  Since I have 3 ROKU devices I added it from one, but had to go to all 3 to move back to the top of the home screen and re-signin to YouTubeTV on each.
