I'm impressed HBO Max even works on a 3500. That player is getting pretty old (released March 2014), and many newer channels are not supported on it.

This sucks. If Roku can't deliver the channels that they said they could deliver, then I want a refund on the four Roku boxes I own.

And HBO Max works perfectly on all of my Roku devices, and always has. So exactly how is that a equipment issue? I still can't use HBO Max on my '19 Shield TV. It completely locks up, and sometimes even requires pulling the power to reboot it. 

My point is that HBO has programming issues with all platforms. I read about issues with it in multiple forums over several platforms.

And my point is that HBO is not the only problem on Roku. There are plenty of other apps, like Showtime and Amazon Prime, that are having problems.  There are even complaints of some games no longer working correctly on Roku.

No one is saying that it's solely a hardware issue. Let's make that clear. It's primarily a coding issue with the Roku OS. Whatever joke of an update they put through back in October screwed everything up for multiple apps and it's been **bleep** ever since.

You keep harping on about the HBO developers, when it's plainly clear that this goes beyond the scope of just one app.

You also hide behind this being a thread for only the HBO Max app, but refuse to say anything about the other app issues on Roku, even when those problems have been brought up here, as well as other threads.

Stop gaslighting the situation and start offering some real support. Or at the very least, start explaining why we should believe that this is only an HBO Max issue and not a problem with the Roku OS.  Thanks.

I'm not hiding behind anything. I don't have Showtime, so can't comment on that. I do have Prime Video, Disney+, YouTube, Movies Anywhere, Vudu, and quite a few other channels. I have zero problems with any of them. I am not dismissing the fact that some users have issues with some channels. I have no doubt it's happening. But yes, this thread is about HBO Max, and HBO as a company has terrible programmers. They've had issues with their channel since it was first offered, and there's something they aren't doing correctly in their programming.

Let's just cut to the chase here and have you give everyone, once and for all, definitive answers to just two questions:

1. Do you acknowledge that there are other app problems within the Roku ecosystem?

2. Do you acknowledge that this could be an issue with the Roku OS?

1. Yes, other apps on Roku devices have issues on occasion. 

2. Yes, it might be something within the Roku OS. And it's also possible that it's a programming change in an update that the developers were aware of but didn't properly code for. 

Roku is not infallible. There have been many times I suggested a different platform for users, especially for ones that want to stream their own media. That is where the Roku is lacking severely. But for basic Internet streaming, it's tough to beat the Roku user interface for simplicity and ease of use (I have no experience with an Apple TV, so it might be equally smooth). The Fire TV is way too Amazon-centric for me, and I say that as a Prime member since almost the beginning. I find most TV "smart" interfaces lacking in one way or another. 

Since COVID, Roku support has faltered, make no mistake about that. The employees that perform the moderator task here are have the unenviable task of trying to help users that are unhappy and often don't have a good understanding of the troubleshooting steps they need to follow. I understand people get tired of hearing the same old "remove, reboot, reinstall", but so often that basic step hasn't been accomplished, so they have to repeat themselves. And they they are at the mercy of the support specialist (whom they forward the request to) to actually follow-through with the customer. That's why I try to assist them and cut them some slack.

My problem is solved and I feel silly. My subscription had expired. I subscribed again and it came right on! The problem wasn't Roku.

@kh1234You may feel silly, but I don't. My problem is not solved. I would like to keep receiving HBO Max on Roku and I have tried all the remedies that have been suggested. I still get the three balls going around in a circle. Can someone who actually works for Roku please respond and tell me what I can do to get HBO Max the way I used to. Thank you.
