Where the Boys Are - 1960 version

Jump to solution

Although the 1960 version is listed and the trailer is correct, the movie version that plays is the 1984 version.

@Gkelley61

Errors like this occur sometimes in the Search Results.  Looks like all the channels/apps offering Where the Boys Are (1960) for free, are actually playing Where the Boys Are (1984), including the Roku Channel.

@AvsGunnar yes, but as Roku is a provider they are in a position to correct the problem.

@Gkelley61

The remedy will likely be to remove the Roku Channel as an option to watch the 1960 version in the Search results. (if any action is taken at all other than referring to the appropriate team).

Occasionally the wrong metadata (poster and description of movie) will be listed in the Search.  It is likely not a wrong link (ie. mistakenly linking and playing to the 1984 version instead of the 1960 version).  The more likely issue is that the 1960 version is incorrectly showing as available for "free".

Even within Plex that is mistakenly listing the 1960 version as free, their own internal Search feature shows the 1960 poster and info, and while pressing pause button, the overlay banner indicates 1960 version, but is playing the 1984 version.

Essentially, it appears that the 1960 version is not currently available to be streamed for free.

Normally, usually advised to just see if the content is playing correctly elsewhere.  If it is, then it is a linking/programming error that can be corrected once brought to the attention of Roku if on the Roku Channel.  If the other available channels/apps are all playing the "wrong" content, then it is merely a Search Result error, and little is ever really done to address those.

-----

Just wanted to explain so you can tailor your expectations of a fix.  I searched some of the older movie channel/apps and also did not see the 1960 version, so pretty sure it is just included in the Search Results as free in error.
