Looking to cut from cable but was wondering what monthly charges are after buying the device?  
also does it matter which device to purchase? TIA

Please be aware that there are no monthly fees for watching free channels or for using a Roku device. You only have to pay for subscription channels like Netflix, cable-replacement services like Sling TV, or movie and TV show rentals from services like Apple TV.

In addition, Roku never charges any fees for creating a Roku account, activating a Roku device, or providing customer or service support.

You should check their websites to see what packages they have available.  While you can subscribe through Roku, it's generally better to go right to the source.  That way you can use the subscription on more than just Roku devices.  You should also note that the experience you get using a streaming device may not be the same as what you're getting through cable.  Streaming is more about on-demand.

Current Roku devices are pretty much the same as to what they can stream.  The differences are in things like what remote you get, 4k video support (although I think they all have that now), and whether or not they have a wired Ethernet connector.  You can compare devices at:
