Roku live tv does not play

I have the same issue a described multiple times above. All works except the Roku channel live tv. When selected it shows all the stations and their programs. But when selecting any the screen turns black and nothing happens. Brand new ROKU 4K+ device, latest software, fast internet, no cable or antennas.

We have the same issue - screen is black - no sound or picture with 4 bars for signal strength.   We have checked the software settings for an update and rebooted Roku.  we still have the same problem.

 

we have not reset to the factory settings because we will lose our passwords.

 

any advice?

We understand you're experiencing Roku Live TV not playing and displaying a black screen. We appreciate your efforts in trying some troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue. We're happy to assist you.

  • Is this the first instance you've encountered this problem? When did it begin?
  • What is your Internet service provider and location?
  • Do you have cellular data so we can try connecting your device to your hotspot?

system restart is the least invasive reset method. It involves removing the power cord from your Roku device for at least 10 seconds before plugging it back in. You can use the instructions below to restart the system from the Settings menu.

  1. Press Home on your Roku remote 
     
  2. Scroll and select Settings.
  3. Select System
  4. Select Power. If you do not see a Power submenu, skip to the next step.
  5. Select System restart

In either case, your Roku device will complete a system restart and hopefully return to regular operation after a moment.

If the issue persists, can you please provide us with the following information:

  • Roku device model, serial number, device ID, and software OS/version (these can all be found in Settings > System > About)
  • What version/build is the channel (this can be found by selecting the channel on the Home screen and pressing the * button)
  • Tracker ID when this issue occurs (when you see this issue, press the Home button five times, followed by the Back button five times, and provide us with this ID).

Once we have this information, we will pass it along to the appropriate Roku team for further investigation.
In the meantime, your patience and understanding is much appreciated.

Restart, reset, reset up, restart router, reset anything. All was done unsuccessfully. no tracker ID issues. Roku channel installed, deinstalled, reinstalled. Power cycled. Different power outlet, different charger. Alle works on Roku except Roku channel and live tv.

Nope. Nothing goes so far.

Restart, reset, reset up, restart router, reset anything. All was done unsuccessfully. no tracker ID issues. Roku channel installed, deinstalled, reinstalled. Power cycled. Different power outlet, different charger. All works on Roku except Roku channel and live tv.

it is not the Roku device itself because I tested it after I bought it, but now in my own home is does stay black screened.

I'm also having this issue as of now. Tried all the fixes that have been suggested but I still cannot watch Live TV channels.

I’m experiencing the same issue. After selecting an app it automatically brings you back to the Home Screen

We'd like to add additional troubleshooting using a mobile hotspot, connect your device to it, and then try again to see if that makes a difference. But you can also start with the system restart by navigating to Settings > System > Power (if available) > System restart.

If it's still the same issue, please report back along with the details requested recenty.

  • Roku device model, serial number, device ID, and software OS/version (these can all be found in Settings > System > About) mobile device brand, model, and OS
  • Tracker ID when this issue occurs (when you see this issue occur, press the Home button 5 times, followed by the Back button 5 times, and provide us with this ID).
  • ISP
