When Photoview starts as the screensaver, it just shows a black screen. The file name and date show up on the bottom left but the screen is blank, not showing the picture. We had a Roku device previously that might have been similar to what the ultra is now, but it was 6 or 7 years old and we got tired of rebooting it so decided to get a new device. One of the features we loved about the old Roku is we could use the Google Photoview app as a screensaver to show pictures from albums we uploaded to our google account. When we bought this new streaming stick, we tried setting that Photoview app and screensaver up again. We made sure the Roku and the app were updated. All the settings looked good. I was able to link the app to my google account successfully, etc. All seems well until we try to run the screensaver, whether the screensaver comes on automatically, of if we go to Photoview settings and choose Preview Screensaver, it just shows a black screen with the file name and date in the bottom left corner, which of course changes every 8 seconds, but the screen is always black. How do we get it to show the picture? It worked on our last Roku, so would hope it would work on this Roku.... we love using our 55" Tv as our digital picture frame full of memories.

We were able to resolve the issue. I'll describe it here so others who might have the same problem can also try this. We went into the PhotoView screensaver settings and disabled the HDMI-CEC feature. Now we see our pictures instead of a black screen.
Hi @adhcruisers,
Sending our regards to you, and welcome here to the Roku Community!
May we know what Roku device is having issues with showing a black screen? In addition, what troubleshooting steps have you taken so far to resolve the issue?
In the meantime, you can check if your Photo Stream channel is up to date. To check this, navigate to Photo Stream then select the star (*) button. After this, select the option to check for updates.
Keep us posted.
All the best,
