No closed captions on The Chosen app on Roku

Jump to solution

Does anyone know if closed captions work on The Chosen app on Roku? They work just fine on my iPad, but I can’t figure out where to turn them on on the Roku. (My Roku setting are set to “always on”.) They work on other apps. Thanks!

Hi @CarlaDee,

Welcome to the Roku Community!

Thanks for getting in touch about this. Just a heads up that turning closed captioning on or off through your Roku Settings might not work for most channels on the Roku streaming platform. Most of the content on the Roku platform is provided by independent streaming channels, each with its own operating system and features.

I was able to pull up the close captioning with The Chosen app standalone channel. You can access this during playback by pressing the * sign button on your Roku remote, then selecting Accessibility &Language and proceeding to Close Caption.

We hope that works for you.

Video controls are now back. If you hit up twice on a video while watching you will now see those controls. Make sure you have updated to 2.4! Thanks!
