The narration will not turn off on Apple TV.
I have tried hitting star 4 times.
I went to the Accessibility menu and neither Screen Reader or Audio Guide exist as an option for selection.
I double checked both Apple TV and TV settings as well.
When you say "narration", are you speaking of descriptive audio that describes everything going on in a scene? If so, that has nothing to do with the Screen Reader. Press * on your remote while a video is playing and see if there's a choice of Audio tracks under "Accessibility & language".
Is your Roku device a model 2720 as appears with your post? I didn't think it supported the Apple TV app, so it's not clear if you're speaking of an Apple TV device or the Apple TV app on a Roku device.
Yes, it narrates everything that is happening on the screen. I am refferring to the Apple App and I have watched movies on this roku on there before without issue.,
I saw that suggestion as well - pressing the * once - it also does not do anything.
I have deleted and reinstalled the apple app. Turned the roku on and off... etc.
If you are only experiencing active descriptive audio with the Apple TV + app you will find the setting under the Apple TV Settings Cogwheel then [Accessibility > ] --> [Audio Descriptions "Off / On"] toggle. Once Audio Descriptions is selected then hitting the OK button on your Roku Remote will toggle the setting Off / On.
Cheers!
Like I mentioned, all settings on Apple were triple checked. This unfortunately did not correct the issue.
Welcome to the Roku Community, @wavenimbus!
Thanks for posting your concern about being unable to disable the screen reader feature within the Apple TV app. We'd be happy to review this.
Firstly, could you please confirm the Roku streaming device you are having this issue with? perhaps you could provide us with its serial number and current software version. (this can all be found in Settings > System > About)
Since you've performed all the possible troubleshooting steps to no avail, we highly recommend coordinating this directly with Apple TV support. They manage and maintain their app on the Roku streaming platform independently, and they may be able to find you the best resolution.
You may reach them here: Apple TV Support
In the meantime, we'll be looking forward to your update.
Best regards,
Carly
Serial number: 5Y259F185770
Software version: 13.1.4
I'll reach out to Apple.
Hi, @wavenimbus.
Thanks for providing us with your Roku device's details. It seems like your device's software version is up to date. We also appreciate your efforts in trying to check and troubleshoot.
We hope this will be sorted out soon.
Regards,
Carly
It wasn't.
