Live TV does not work in Guest Mode

Hello,

Did Roku ever figure out why the Live TV function does not work in Guest Mode?  I have the exact same problem.... the actual network connection is fine, yet when trying to access the 'Live TV' I receive a 'Network error' and am told 'there is a problem connecting to the network.  Please check your network settings.'  I find this infuriating, as the network is decidedly NOT the issue.  All other apps work fine - just the Live TV does not work.

Thanks,

Danielle

Re: Live TV does not work in Guest Mode

Welcome, and thank you for posting here in the Roku Community, @leftysjewel!

We appreciate you letting us know about the issues you've encountered when unable to access Live TV in Guest mode. We'd be happy to help you find the best resolution.

In this case, have you tried connecting to an alternative network connection to see if this makes any difference? Perhaps you can try mobile hotspot/data.

Please keep us posted and we'll go from there.

Best regards,
Carly

Re: Live TV does not work in Guest Mode

A software update (back in 2023) seemed to clear up my problem.

Re: Live TV does not work in Guest Mode

A network connection is not needed for Live TV. In fact, the opposite is true. Live TV is needed when a network connection is unavailable.

Re: Live TV does not work in Guest Mode

Welcome, @Airwaves.

We're grateful to have you here in the Roku Community!

Thanks for sharing your input with us. It's true that you don't need a network connection when streaming your OTA (antenna) Live TV channels for Roku TVs.

However, if you're streaming your Live TV channels via The Roku Channel without an antenna, then you'll need your Roku device connected to your network provider.

We hope you find this additional information helpful. Feel free to reach out if you need any help.

Best regards,
Carly
