Tried to select Hulu this morning and screen says "Hulu is no longer available on this Roku device" and that it needs to be upgraded. What are the options to resolve this?
Roku has stopped supporting the Roku 4 for reasons that have been covered in other threads. Hulu is owned by Disney, and Disney decided they would also stop supporting the Roku 4 on all of their services. I personally don't use Hulu, so no idea what might be lost by dropping their service.
If the content on Hulu is valuable enough to want to keep the service, you will need new players. My recommendation is the Express 4K+. If you look on the menu of your Roku 4, you will see a menu option labeled "My Offers". Roku might have a discount offer for you to replace your Roku 4, and it would be shown here. Roku also includes offers on your user web page, but I don't see any hardware offers there, at least on my account.
You didn't specify what model Roku you have. We need to know that information to be more specific.
Each channel provider has the ability to select what model devices can use their channel. If they (such as Hulu) make a decision to drop support for an older device, then your only option is to upgrade your device. It is not Roku making that decision, but the channel provider.
Hulu says it wrote the current version of its Roku channel app to be compatible with the following Roku models, running Roku operating software version 11 or higher. Older Roku models not on this list are no longer supported by Hulu. If your older Roku model is not on this list, you'll need to replace it with a supported model in order to receive Hulu.
You can check your Roku model and model number via Roku menu path Settings > System > About. Presumably newer models not yet listed by Hulu will also work. (This information is current as of June 1, 2023. For updates, see the link below)
Roku 2 (4210X)
Roku 3
Roku Streaming Stick (3600X, 3800X), Stick+, 4K, 4K+
Roku Express, Express+, 4K, 4K+
Roku Premiere, Premiere+
Roku Ultra, Ultra LT
Roku Smart Speaker
Roku TV, 2K, 4K, 8K

I have three Roku 4s. Hulu is no longer available on them. I now must decide whether to replace them and remain a Hulu subscriber or to drop Hulu. I wonder how many subscribers Hulu estimated it would lose when it decided to write the current version of its Roku channel app to be incompatible with some Roku models?

I have a roku 4 with software version 11.5.0, that's 11 or higher right? Why can I not play hulu?
Hulu is owned by Disney. Disney has dropped support for the Roku 4 with all of their content. Hulu will no longer work on the Roku 4, same as the Disney+ channel.
I decided to keep my Roku 4s and drop Hulu. I found that Sling blue carried the programming I watch on Hulu at half the price.
I'm definitely NOT buying another Roku device. I have an Xbox One and both Hulu and Disney Plus are available on it. I'm guessing this was Disney's decision to not support older Roku models, since Disney owns Hulu and neither channels are available on my Roku 4 (4400) device. Maybe you have a device other than Roku that you can use. But you would think that Roku would give older device owners some type of discount, knowing that this was going to happen on June 1st!
Edited: Actually, Roku does offer newer devices at discounted prices, depending on the device you are currently using. Just go to the menu and click "Offers".
Oops....I stand corrected! On my Roku 4 (4400) menu, under "Offers", they do list discounts on other Roku devices, depending on what device you own!
