Global Channel crashing to home screen

Jump to solution

This obviously isn't fixed if you look at all the replies saying 'me too, nothing will fix it'... So are you going to figure out the issue and fix it please?  There is no point in having roku if you can't watch anything but an ad before it kicks you out!

A warm welcome here in the Roku Community, @Lms55598!

We sincerely apologize for any trouble this may have caused you. Rest assured that we will find you the best resolution possible.

May we first know if this only happens to the Global TV app on your Roku streaming device? If so, have you tried to perform a troubleshooting method by removing the app, performing a system reboot, and then reinstalling it? If not, we highly recommend it. Follow the steps provided below to help you:

  1. Remove Global TV app: navigate to your Home screen, move to the right, highlight the app, press Star*, then select Remove channel
  2. Perform a system reboot: navigate to your Home, select Settings > System > Power > System restart
  3. Re-install the app: navigate to your Home, scroll and select Store, look for The Roku Channel, then press Add channel

We also need to make sure that these steps have been done precisely to work. In addition, try to update the app by highlighting the channel tile, pressing the star* button, and choosing "Update the app."

Let us know how it goes, and we'll go from there!

Kind regards,
Carly

Hi @Redginger60,

Thanks for updating us.

May we know if Global Channel is the only channel you're having issues with? or was it happening all across your channels on Roku? Besides removing and adding the channel, could you try connecting to a different network, such as a mobile hotspot, as a workaround to see if this helps?

Please keep us posted so we can continue assisting.

Regards,
Janadee

Hi @DonS1,

Thanks for letting us know.

You can refer to this support article on how to add apps to your Roku streaming device. There may be ways that work best for you, so kindly give it a try. If the channel is still unavailable to download on your Roku, it could be an issue within the channel provider itself, so we recommend that you reach out to the provider's support directly to inquire further about their channel availability.

Let us know what you find out.

Regards,
Janadee

Having the same issue. Followed your steps and it still kicks back to the homescreen after signing in to global

Thank you for letting us know, @Snoopy6015.

We appreciate you for trying to troubleshoot the app to no avail. No worries! We're here to offer further troubleshooting steps to help you stream the app again.

Before we proceed, is this the only app affected by this? If so, kindly highlight the app and press the star* button on your remote and look for the option 'update the app'. If the issue still persists, it is highly suggested to raise this concern to the channel provider directly as they are the ones who maintain and update their app on the Roku Streaming platform.

You can reach them here: Global TV Customer Support

We hope you get everything sorted out soon and appreciate you bearing with us in the meantime.

Best regards,
Carly
