Mounting outdoor camera to brick

Jump to solution

Has anyone mounted their outdoor camera to brick?  Did you use the included anchors or screws or something else.  Either way, which size drill bit worked best for the pilot hole?

You can certainly use the included drywall anchors and provided screws.  Don't need a lot of strength, so just place some silicone/adhesive in the holes before placing anchor and should be fine.  There are some better plastic anchors and screws in any hardware store.  Personally, I'd probably go with a little bigger anchor and screw.  Do not need any steel or lead masonry anchors for the weight of this camera.  If you drill the holes into the vertical mortar (rather than the brick), also won't leave holes in your brick and can just patch the mortar at a later date if you ever remove cam.  Run a little bead of clear silicone caulk around the attached base and shouldn't go anywhere.

Seems like people with Wyze cams have had success/recommend using Gorilla brand exterior heavy-duty adhesive tape as well for mounting to brick surfaces.  Also sold at Home Depot and hardware stores. https://www.amazon.com/Gorilla-Heavy-Double-Mounting-Inches/dp/B019HT1U9E
