Hi @Clinemissy,

From the Roku Community, greetings and thanks for the inquiry!

We understand that you would like to extend the period of time the Roku camera records when it detects motion. We are happy to assist you further. Do you have the micro SD card installed in your camera? That's the only way you can set up continuous recordings. Below are the guided steps.

Before you begin, make sure to install a micro SD card in your camera. The smart home app allows you to set up continuous recording.

  1. Tap Home from the navigation bar.
  2. Select your camera.
  3. Tap Settings in the corner.
  4. Select Advance Settings.
  5. Toggle Record to MicroSD card to on.
  6. Select Continuos.

To view a continuous recording, you must remove the micro SD card and connect it to your computer.

Note: Your Roku Smart Home camera can capture several types of recordings, including event, continuous, scheduled, and time-lapse recordings. Some recording features are only available on specific smart home cameras. Video doorbells can only capture event recordings as they do not have a micro SD card slot. Recordings can be saved to the cloud when you purchase a Roku Smart Home Subscription or backed up to a micro SD card.

We hope you'll find this useful. Please let us know if there's anything else we can do to assist you.

Kind regards,
John

Hi Community users,

Thanks for posting in the Roku Community!

We have noticed that you would like to extend the duration or adjust the cooldown period for which the Roku camera records when it detects motion. No worries, we would be glad to provide you with further details about this concern.

Please be informed that the recording cooldown settings in the Roku Smart Home app are only available on the Roku Outdoor Camera SE. When a motion event recording is triggered, there is a cooldown period before another event can be triggered. You can select a cooldown interval of 1, 3, or 5 minutes. Recording cooldown is offered to prevent your camera from recording back-to-back events since this can quickly drain the battery.

To change the recording cooldown settings in the Roku Smart Home app, please follow the details below.

  1. Tap Home from the navigation bar
  2. Select your camera
  3. Tap Settings in the right corner
  4. Tap Event Recording
  5. Under Recording Settings, tap Recording cooldown
  6. Choose the cooldown interval
  7. Tap Save

We hope you will find this information helpful.

NOT continuous recording that requires an SD card. How do you change cool down period and record longer videos. Ty
