[6.0] Smart Camera audio very low out of nowhere

Jump to solution

Roku Smart Camera SE worked fine. Don’t know if it’s a firmware update but the last couple weeks it’s been totally different. With the volume turned up all the way, I can barely hear any audio coming from the camera. It used to be having it up all the way was too loud. Every time I open the camera app, it defaults to the sound being muted. It didn’t do that before. Also the video quality isn’t as good and I can’t zoom the same way. Now when I zoom, it pans the camera all the way to one corner and I have to move it around. I’ve tried restarting the camera and resetting it, same issues.

Troubleshoot the sound issue

If your Wi-Fi is working but the sound for your video live stream or recording is still muffled or distorted, refer to the tips below:

  • Check that the speaker on your camera or doorbell is not being covered or obstructed. Do not have your device completely covered.
  • Make sure your camera or doorbell is not directly exposed to loud noises that could affect the sound quality. Do not place your device on a TV or music speaker.

If your Wi-Fi is working but your video is still slow or blurry, refer to the tips below.

  • Check that your camera or doorbell's view is not being obstructed. Do not point your device directly toward light or sunlight.
  • Make sure no objects, like a mirror or a piece of decor, are near your camera or doorbell that could cause a glare or blur.
  • If you expect your video to be blurry because condensation has formed on the lens of your camera or doorbell, try wiping the lens or letting the condensation disappear on its own.
