Received an email saying "A $5 Credit Is Waiting For You", is this legit? Email was from roku@email.roku.com. Said I needed to click and activate the offer.
Hello Community Users!
Thank you for your inquiry about the $5 email credit from Roku. We're here to help and provide you with the information you need to take advantage of this offer.
A new $5 promotional credit campaign starts on 10/3/24. Some customers will be notified of eligibility via email or on their device via a heads-up display.
Eligible customers will receive the following email notifying them of a $5 credit that can be claimed
Customers need to click on the link in the email and then log into their Roku account
For others, a $5 credit through Roku will be added to the customer's Roku account if they update their payment method from using Cash Card to Cash App Pay. This credit is ONLY applicable if a customer updates the payment method from Cash Card to Cash App Pay.
For a heads up on this, there is a promotion end date and a credit expiration date.
If you have questions on this promotion or experience any issues, then contact customer support.
Thanks,
Arjiemar
99.9999% it's a scam. If you hover a mouse over the link, or other way to see the link without actually clicking it, it probably goes to some scam site. It's not hard for scammers to use a fake email address.
I received the same email, 10/11/2024, that needed to be claimed by 10/19/24. It looked legit; it was legit. The $5 credit showed up on my Roku account immediately after I claimed it. If your claim-by date has not expired, go for it.
Note: using it is another matter. It may be that it only activates when making purchases using Roku Pay. Roku-Pay may only be possible for apps that were subscribed/signed-up thru Roku. An issue as yet unresolved in my case.
