Roku TV stops recognizing USB drive

I use it for pausing Live TV. I thought the drive might have gone bad and replaced it, but TV would not recognize the new replacement.  It had been working for the last few years.  If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate them.

I don't have this feature on any of my TVs but TVs have always been "picky" about the formatting of the USB drive. You may have to reformat your USB drives to get them to work and they must be in a TV MFR supported format. If you have done that correctly and it still doesn't work then I would conclude the TV USB input has become defective. HTH

  • I used the same USB drive for about a year with no issue before it recently stopped working with my ROKU.  It is formatted correctly (always has been NTFS) and I added a power station just in case it was a power issue (still doesn't work).  The Hard Drive works fine on all other laptops and so I know it's not the Hard Drive.  I'm 90% sure the driver on the TV needs an update.

      Thanks for the post.

We would be more than happy to look further into the issue, but will need more details. Can you please provide us the following information:

      • USB device type and brand
      • format of content that you are trying to play with the USB device
      • tracker ID when this issue occurs (when you see this issue occur, press the Home button 5 times, followed by the Back button 5 times and provide us with this ID)
      • steps to reproduce the issue you are seeing

Once we have this information, we will be able to investigate what you are experiencing.
