Enhanced Remote issues with pairing

I've already spent considerable time in Chat with Roku tech support on this one. My remote will power on my TV and the Roku programming options screen loads just fine. However, I am unable to select any programs. The remote does not scroll in order to select a program option, such as YouTube TV as an example. The remote green pairing light comes on and just flashes but does not seem to want to pair properly so I can get full use of the remote.  Today, I rec'd a replacement remote from Roku. Tried to pair it as instructed. Got the same result as my problem -- the remote turns on the TV but it won't let me select any programs. Given this test of a new remote didn't solve the problem, I would guess that it is a stick problem maybe and not the remote. How do I figure this out? For some odd reason the remote(s) have stopped working fully. I am able to use the Roku app on my phone to select programming just fine, FYI. Looking for solution advice so I can go back to using my remote and not my iphone. Any words of wisdom would be great!  THX!

    Thanks for asking! BMinATL30004

Your Roku 3810X (Streaming Stick+) may be showing its age, but before replacing it, try using an HDMI extender and repositioning the device; this often improves signal reception and remote responsiveness.

However, if issues persist after troubleshooting, upgrading to a newer Roku model could be worthwhile.

    Hope that helps you decide!

    Greetings! BMinATL30004

You mentioned that you're having trouble pairing your Roku remote to your Roku Streaming Stick.

To help us narrow things down, could you let us know which Roku Streaming Stick model you're using? Also, is it hooked up with an HDMI extender? If not, let's give that a shot; and see if that helps.

Let us know what you find!

  • I have a model #3810X stick. I am not using an HDMI extender of any sort. Weirdly, this has been fine for years and just this week the remote stops working. Nothing was changed on my end. Same tv setup with the Roku stick plugged into an HDMI port on the back of the tv.

  • Doing some add'l research on this issue, is it wise or not to do a Reset of the stick? This might be an "if all else doesn't work" solution but I did an AI query and that also came up as a possible fix. Holding off on doing any Reset until I can rule out everything else....

Thanks for the additional info! BMinATL30004

The last resort we have here is to do a factory reset, only if you're willing to give it a try. Since we've already tried all the possible steps available.

If you want to give it a shot, try going to this support article for more help.

Let us know if that helps!

Would you suggest I try using an HDMI Extender to see if this helps? Or, would it also be better to just purchase a new stick?  Could it be that the 3810X stick I currently have is just getting too outdated? Pinpointing exactly where the point of failure is in this problem does not seem very clear.  Looking for more exact advice if it exists.  THX for the help.....
