Newsmax buffering on Xfinity

Using Roku to access Xfinity channel lineup. Newsmax is constantly freezing (buffering) on all TVs including Roku TVs. My system has been complete for over 3 months, but this problem is 2 days old.

I have been having the same problem also. Started on Wednesday 02/19/2025.  Express 4k in living  room and stick in bedroom.  Both freezing.  Also have an Apple TV streaming device and same thing is happening on that device also.  Countless wasted hours trying to reset modem,  wifi , deleting xfinity steam app and reinstalling, testsrting devices talking to Xfinity tech support and having them send a technician out who said there is nothing he could do. There is absolutely no excuse as to why this problem cannot be fixed.  All other channels on the app work fine.     It is ridiculous for the amount of money being spent with Xfinity TV Package and their Internet service we have to put up with this nonsense.  Fix the dam problem.  Been streaming with the Xfinity app on Roku for over two years now with no problems on any channel until Wednesday.

 Will someone get to the bottom of this please?

Sounds like a Xfinity service issue and or Newsmax issue.  You should continue to reach out to Xfinity customer service and/or Newsmax customer service.

For the Xfinity app, which I assume is similar to the Spectrum TV app, uninstall it, restart the Roku by doing a system restart or unplugging power for 60 seconds, then reinstall the app and see if that helps.

If you are specifically using a Newsmax app, do the same with that app as well.

    Did everything possible to get the channel working as I stated in my initial post. The Comcast technician said there is nothing he could do.  I called Newsmax on Friday and the said they had not received any reports of this issue.  Classic hamster wheel situation of going round snd round snd getting nowhere.  

    Someone please get to the bottom of this.

    The coincidence of having corrupted load objects on separate geographic locations, on separate roku sticks all approximate to the same day and time just doesn't happen. Unless there was an update and the load object was replaced as an update, which as far as I can see did not happen. I once had a corrupted xfinity load object on my samsung smart tv. The samsung engineers were able to identify this, and instructed me to reload the xfinity app (load object). This is a rare situation unless it was pushed out by an xfinity app update. I can see that on the xfinity site (xfinity.com watch tv option), streaming their app (watching newsmax) that there is a buffering problem there as well (their app provided a popup that said so), it is just being handled better by the app they are running or perhaps the supporting environment. Just my humble opinion 🙂

    Newsmax 2 is steaming with no problems.  However, that app foes not give the ability to watch LIVE TV.

    Xfinity, like Spectrum, is not great at maintaining their app and both have struggled to update their infrastructure to handle the influx of streaming on their respective services that has occurred within the last couple of years, especially after the release of Xumo, when they both went full out streaming and started encouraging customers to switch from cable boxes to streaming devices (pushing Xumo).

    Roku has no control over third party streaming services and channels, and this sounds like a streaming/service issue with Xfinity and Newsmax.  I suggest continuing to complain to Xfinity customer support and posting on their Xfinity forum.  A similar issue occurred with Spectrum a few weeks ago and it took a lot of squeaky wheels posting on the Spectrum forum to get Spectrum to recognize there was an issue.  Unfortunately, Xfinity reps, especially the non-tier 2 level techs (like Spectrum), don't always know there are technical issues behind the scenes until a number of people start complaining about it.

    Hi JWS9518, I agree completely, not a specific Roku issue. Something changed, and my suspicion is not at Xfinity but further upstream, since I see what I think is the same issue on their "watch tv option" on their webpage. I will call them tomorrow and escalate the issue if that is possible. I'm been retired for 9 years and no longer write code for a living, so I have the time :). Will post my progress if any in what will be an uphill march I'm sure. Thanks for your time and help.
