Cannot pin camera to home screen

Hi. I have four Roku cameras and in the app they work fine. But when tried to pin any camera to the Home Screen the little screen appear and keeps loading but nothing appears. Then get an error message “Something went wrong. Please pin your camera again.” Any idea? Thanks.

  • Hi there, BrendaBaker

We understand you're having trouble pinning your Roku live stream on your Roku device's Camera app. Let's see if this works for you:

    1. Check the app for update: Press home button > highlight the app > press star* > Check for updates.
    2. Remove the app
    3. System restart the device
    4. Add the app again
    5. Try pinning your Camera live stream again by selecting a feed, pressing the star button, then choosing "Pin camera to your screen."

Hope this helps and keep us posted.

  • 3/29/25:  Same problem with my Roku Ultra and Roku camera.  Can see the image in the Roku Smart Home phone app and can (usually but it doesn't always connect) see it on my TV with the Roku Cameras app.  But when I try to pin the camera I (usually) get an image in the lower right corner of the screen but after maybe 20 seconds I get the "something went wrong please pin your camera again" error.  I have never been able to reliably pin the camera so that it is on the screen while I'm watching TV.

I got what I thought was a great deal on the Roku camera - Walmart has them on for $12.95 each.  I bought two.  I may take them back!

      Greetings, mvmojo.

Thanks for reaching us about having an issue with pinning the camera on your TV. We're here to help.

Could you please try to remove the camera app and try again? If the issue persists, try updating the software of your device.

      Please keep us posted.

  • Im guessing not all models support pinning of the cameras, because I don't see thattl option anywhere in the Roku camera app on my TCL ROKU TV or on any of my streaming boxes. Can you tell me how you are even getting it to show you an option to pin it?

    Thx

Update, the pinning is now working on my soundbars. Nothing was done on my part make it work.

Forget my post, the reliability is garbage. It's so hit and miss whether the camera video comes through, and the pinning is even worse. The cameras are no moe than 15 to 20 feet from my router with no walls in between. So, there's no excuse. My ring cameras work flawless. Come on roku do better.

In the roku camera app there's an option called camera carousel. Hitting the "*" button on the remote, it opens to the options. 3rd option down is "PIN 'living room' to your screen". Hitting that option then attempts to "PIP", and after a few moments of attempting the,  error will pop up.

One thing I've noticed is notifications that will pop up in the right corner of the TV whenever a person or pet is detected. I'm not sure if that's new or I've never noticed it prior to the option for pinning.

  • Same issue here. No matter how many times I try, the result is the same, error message.
