Roku soundbar not playing sound for certain things

I have a Roku streambar and two wireless Roku speakers. Tv is Roku plus series 4k tv. For Commercials and movies the soundbar will play sound. For certain tv shows only the speakers will play sound, and the soundbar doesn’t play sound at all. I want the sound bar and speakers to work simultaneously, or at least have the soundbar play sound and the speakers do effects like it does in movies. It seems like this only happens for certain things.

The sounds does have its own dashboard because it was hooked up to different tv that wasn’t a Roku tv. I don’t use that dashboard I only use the Roku tv dashboard. Does the soundbar need to be reset. I think this might be the issue but not sure.

Any setting suggestions would be helpful. I tried a few things but nothing has helped.

  • Hey Juiceman

Roku soundbars may not produce sound as expected for specific content. When used alongside external speakers, the soundbar operates as the center channel for audio, especially with surround sound content. However, when the content is only in stereo, the sound will come from the left and right external speakers. This behavior is intentional. To adjust this setting, press the star button during playback to access the menu and select expanded Stereo. For more information about sound modes, please refer to the FAQ.

    Thanks,

    Hi, Juiceman

    Thanks for being here!

I understand that you are having audio issues with your Roku Soundbar! Here's what we can do.

    1. Start watching your shows.
    2. Press the star (*) button
    3. Go to Sound Settings
    4. Change it to Music or change it to other audio profiles.

Let me know how it goes!

    Cheers!

      Here’s what I’ve tried:

I went to the audio settings and tried changing a bunch of stuff and nothing seems to work.

I unpaired the speakers from the tv and the soundbar.

I ended up factory resting the soundbar and hooking everything up to the tv.

Ive tried changing the audio settings (*) when watching shows that are not outputting sound on the soundbar.

nothing has resolved the issue. The soundbar continues to not have sound when playing some certain shows. I think narrowed down the issue. The issue only happens when tv/movies are not in Dolby. I’ve messed with a few Dolby audio settings but nothing seems to have fixed this issue.

        Hi again! Juiceman

Thanks for giving it a shot!

For further investigation, could you provide me with this info:

        • Roku device model, serial number, device ID, and Software Version. (these can all be found in Settings > System > About)
        • Tracker ID (when you see this issue occur, press the Home button five times, followed by the Back button five times, and provide us with this ID)
        • Roku Soundbar Model

        Looking forward to your response.

        Best,
