How to connect Roku TV to Old A/V Receiver
Hello Everyone:
I have a Roku smart TV that has HDMI/Arc. I would like to play audio from the TV through my older Harman/Kardon AVR70 receiver, which has component (audio in) connections. What hardware would I need to convert the HDMI audio signal to one I can use with my component receiver? What would be the steps I would need to take in software settings on the TV to make it work? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
Hi there! alisondavid
It looks like you're trying to bridge the gap between modern HDMI ARC audio and your classic Harman/Kardon AVR70 receiver, which only accepts analog component audio. To convert HDMI ARC audio to analog RCA (component audio), you’ll need an HDMI ARC audio extractor or converter. For the setup, here's how:
- Go to Settings > Audio
- Set Audio Mode to Stereo
- Set HDMI Audio Mode to PCM
- Enable HDMI ARC (if not already enabled)
- Enable CEC to allow volume control via the TV remote.
Note: Please ensure that your converter supports ARC, not just standard HDMI audio.
Hope this helps!
