YouTube app is buffering and pixelated

July 24, 2025 About a two weeks ago my YouTube app on my Roku TV started a bad buffering spree and the short videos became pixelized and sometimes unable to see. I have performed all suggested troubleshooting methods but none have fixed any of the issue I am experiencing. I contacted my internet provider and made sure it was not anything from their end that would cause the issues. Before any of the current issues I am experiencing my YouTube app was performing perfect. Does anyone know if this is a working issue on the Roku end? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

    Hey there willowghost100

It looks like you are having an issue with your YouTube app that is buffering when you try to watch a show.

Did the issue occur only on the YouTube app? What are the troubleshooting steps that you have tried? If you haven't tried a system restart, try these steps: press Home > Select Settings > Select System > Power (If the power submenu is not there, skip to the next step) > System restart

Let me know how it goes!

I have already tried your suggested troubleshooting steps. All other apps work just fine as well as my YouTube on my desktop and on the RokuTV in the living room. I am now leaning toward my tv going bad and being out money to purchase another one, so sad.

        Thanks willowghost100

We appreciate the troubleshooting steps that you have tried.

Quick question — have you tried resetting the network connection of your Roku TV? Since you mentioned that the other Roku TV works, we recommend you reset its network connection. To do this, follow the steps below:

Note: Make sure you know your Wi-Fi credentials before resetting the network connection

        1. Press Home on your Roku remote
        2. Scroll and select Settings
        3. Select Advanced system settings
        4. Select Network connection reset
        5. Select Reset connection
        6. After the network reset is done, your Roku device will restart, and you will need to return to the Settings menu and set up your wireless network again.

        Hope this helps,

  • This issue is not solved as of today July 29, 2025 yet the conversations are marked as solved. Still no progress in getting the YouTube app to work correctly. As I mentioned before the app worked just fine about 2 1/2 weeks ago then all of a sudden, YouTube shorts became pixelized and regular videos began some bad buffering. Perhaps Roku will take this statement to the expert technicians when I say "I have already tried all suggested troubleshooting steps made by the Roku Community Team and none have prevailed". If I end up purchasing another Roku TV I may send this unit to Roku to analyze the YouTube app issue I am now experiencing.
