[Under Investigation] F1 TV Video Playback zoomed/cropped.

Hey everyone,

We’ve seen some reports about the F1 TV app showing cropped or zoomed-in video during playback.

Status Update (7/30): Our team is aware of the issue and is currently looking into it.

To help us investigate further, please share the following info if you're experiencing this:

  • Roku device model, Device ID, Serial Number, and Software version
    (Go to Settings > System > About)
  • Tracker ID
    (Press Home 5 times, then Back 5 times)
  • App build version
    (Highlight the F1 TV app on the Home screen and press the * button)
  • A photo or video of the zoomed-in screen during playback

    Same issue. 

    F1 “”channel “ and Roku do not seem to play well together.

    Old tv would lock up  saying “copyright issues”. Checked Roku, changed cable, checked tv…gave up and just casted via a different device.

    New set up but with older tv….now Roku and cable work but picture is zoomed 

    This is not the experience I’m paying for.

        Pointing out the obvious, BUT still not fixed!

        It’s been a month. Can you please give us an update or timeframe ? 

        This is App is either supported or not. If it’s not supported please let me know and I’ll move to another device.

  • The F1TV app on ROKU is HORRIBLE - like terrible. I have (2) Roku devices - a 49" TCL ROKU TV, and a External Roku 4940X device.

    None of these devices can play F1TV video correctly.

    The video ALWAYS freezes on the 49" TCL TV - most likely because the TCL TV CPU cannot process quick enough.

    The external 4940x Roku was working but the picture is zooming in at 1080P (manually set) or putting up corrupt picture data when set to 4K.

    I have (2) internet connections - the main one is 150- 225 Mbps down, 13.6 - 20Mbps up.

    I have rebooted both Roku devices multiple times. I have removed the app and re-added it on the 4940x.

    I have factory reset both devices as well.

    What is going on at Roku? Is this on the developers at F1 TV?

    F1TV added DRM (digital rights management) for 2025 and it seems to have broken everything.

    If this is unable to get fixed, I am switching my streaming hardware to something else.

    • App build version (Highlight the app from the Home Screen and press the Star * Button)

        So once the f1 tv app goes to the race it is perfect until 5 seconds in it zooms on its own and is un watchable. No matter how much you change the tv settings it does not allow you to see the whole picture
